The Phobos Amphitheater - A YouTube Channel About Doom WAD Music!

Hi everyone! Earlier this year, I started making MIDI music for the first time, and doing so inspired me to create a music-centered YouTube channel.

 

Enter The Phobos Amphitheater, a place where you’ll find videos about custom WAD music written by members of the Doom Community! This channel is not only one where you can find tunes to listen to, but also a place where I discuss the history of custom Doom music, play covers of MIDIs, and analyze MIDIs from a music theory perspective among other subjects.

 

There are many videos to come, but below are just a couple I have made already that are a good place to start in the meantime. There are a few others on the channel as well, and I hope you enjoy them.

 

Finally, and most importantly, please feel free (either here in the thread or in a video comment) to recommend MIDIs for me to feature in new videos. Thank you!

Thank you! I'd really like to explore more of the history of community MIDIs and how that ties in to composition and musical style. So much to learn about!

It does make me wonder what Josh Martel ended up doing after TNT though. I couldn't find ANYTHING about him outside of his Doom Wiki page

Hi everyone. It's been a minute, but The Phobos Amphitheater is back exploring some more Doom music! This video focuses on tracks that use just two chords throughout their run (with a few exceptions). If there's anyone here currently working on a piece looking for some inspiration, these tracks can definitely help. Also, chances are there are more MIDIs like these I haven't found yet, so feel free to let me know of any examples for a future video. Thank you!

One of the best things about Hell Revealed 2 was no doubt its soundtrack - so many memorable MIDIs from Metabolist and Thyrbse, ranging from eerie and atmospheric to metal af. For our second deep dive, we're exploring the work of the latter. Check it out!

Happy Saturday. Just wanted to mention in this thread about the in-progress four-part mini-series on the channel that involves bringing Doot Eternal into video format! Each of these videos cover each page of the article and feature narration, gameplay footage, and highlights of MIDIs that are mentioned there. They're meant simply to accompany the article, and all of the original writers are credited in each. So, check 'em out when you get the chance.
