Cacodoomonic Posted December 9, 2023 Why is this not here in vanilla? Is there no function for this? I had a trap set up that if you accidentally shoot the wall it lowers the bookcases to the left letting Spectres out. Why is there no function for it? I'm sure it must be doable, no? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
0 maxmanium Posted December 9, 2023 The linedef triggers in vanilla Doom pretty much just consist of what the guys at id felt they needed to be programmed in for their levels. So yeah, some linedef actions, especially the gun types, are lacking. If you map in Boom format you can use generic linedef types, which let you control every property of the action. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

To elaborate, have a neighboring sector with the lowest ceiling set to the level of the floor, and you have the instant mover trick, which is pure vanilla (E4M7). Given all your questions on how to get around vanilla limitations, I feel like if you were going to make a 100% vanilla project, the first thing you should have done is refresh yourself on the vanilla limits and tweak your goals for the project based on the limits, rather than forging ahead and constantly being surprised when your non-vanilla vision conflicts with them. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
