gigawookie Posted December 9, 2023 (edited) Introducing Pipe Dream, a 5 map miniWAD for GZDoom! After three decades of playing Doom and countless custom WADs since, this year I finally decided to try to create my own levels. The result is this five level techbase-gone-bad romp, inspired by the likes of KDiZD, Phobos: Anomaly Reborn and many others. Each map was created one after the other in sequence as I learned the UDMF format, so later levels are a bit more advanced in terms of engine features. However, this was kept to a minimum to ensure a level of coherency. LadyMistDragon Posted December 9, 2023 A couple of things. Some of the rooms early on had a symmetrical feel that goes ok with slaughter but maybe not so much with what's happening here. Thankfully, this issue improved. Ammo could've been a tad more generous, as you'll be able to say in my playthrough of the opening map. Sorry in advance, I neglected to record MAP03 and MAP04, but I assure you they were awesome. The penultimate map was quite a doozy, nailed my arse to the wall and gave me the shits a couple of times, but managed in the end. I enjoyed this mapset a lot and I really liked how each map was better than its prior, showing how much you improved as a mapper as you progress. A couple of issues I've found: 1. On Map04, the part where you pick up the plasma rifle, if you accidentally step on the panel where the plasma was after you've already opened the door that closed you in, you get softlocked inside. 2. On Map05, starting area, one of the floors is accidentally set to F_SKY2.
