Klear Posted December 9, 2023 Earlier this year I finally got into Doom mapping and it was a lot of fun, but then my favourite VR game Pistol Whip got its own official level editor and I turned all my attention to that. Figured that instead of making my mark in probably the oldest mapping community of all, I could help the youngest one get off the ground. Months have passed, I made some nice maps and finally got back into Doom mapping. Sort of. Pistol Whip is a rhythm shooter heavily inspired by action movies, with frantic action and heavily stylised neon-coloured graphics. The editor is still being actively developed and comes with a lot of limitations (such as no animated objects, only three colours on the screen at the same time, the world flashing to the beat etc). Well, we managed to break some of those limits, worked around others and got a pretty solid remake of E1M1 just in time for Doom's birthday. If you own Pistol Whip, you can easily play the map by selecting Remixes in the main menu and finding it there. If not, here's a video: Shout out to Dual_ity who made all those lovely sprites and figured out a way to hack in extra colours. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
