DRON12261 Posted December 12, 2023 (edited) I am happy to welcome you with the release of Russian Random Speedmap Pack 2. This time within Russian Random Speedmapping Sessions our community has made even more interesting, detailed and varied maps than in RRSP#1. You can find here both highly detailed almost full-length maps, which will really surprise you with their look in very different environments, and interesting gameplay experiments, such as a rocketjump area, Corvus as a Bomberman or a challenge map for speedrunners. Everyone will definitely be able to find something interesting for themselves, as we were able to make as many as 23 maps.Google Drive The conditions of the event were as free and simple as possible - the only limitation that participants had was time. The idea of the event was that someone just started to do something and most importantly immediately bring it to completion (partially analogous to NaNoWADMo).A quick summary of the rules: The participant chooses his own time for which he should make a map, but no more than 10 hours. The participant is free to make a map in any format, for any target ports and for any game on the Doom engine. The map is the priority, not the timer! Generating ideas, selecting music, textures, and other resources are not counted in the timer. Only the mapping process itself counts. Similarly, fixes and balance adjustments are allowed after the map has been made (but only small ones). Authors are free to do whatever they want with their maps afterwards, to refine them, to remake them, to release them separately. Their work is not rigidly tied to the project, in this package stored just speedmaps, which later in the hands of their authors may well serve as a foundation for something more ambitious. The most interesting part - the list of works. I have categorized all the maps by authors. Spoiler @Deathwish: Late-Night Shopping [10 hours, Boom, TNT] @Doom Wads: Grind Day [4 hours, Boom, Doom 2] Wtf Day [2 hours, Boom, Doom 2] Emo Day [5 hours, Boom, Doom 2] Suka Blyat Day [5.5 hours, Boom, Doom 2] @DRON12261: Speed of STARTAN [5 hours, Boom, Doom 2] Dead 2 GO [5 hours, Limit-Removing, Doom 2] George Nash: Forsaken Fortress [6 hours, UDMF, Hexen] @GranitMaster: A Rocket Jump! Proxy-MIDI Posted December 12, 2023 Okay. I've done all of the levels. They were very good and beautiful ! Good job ! ;) Without a doubt, Suka Blyat Day is my favourite level ! The combats were intense, the music was hilarious and the gopnik outfit for trespassing the poisonous areas was a freaking good idea ! 7 Quote Share this post Link to post

printz Posted December 15, 2023 Looks like you prepared /idgames-style text files for several of the maps, are you planning to make them final and publish them on /idgames? 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

This is probably difficult to do because many maps are customized for different formats, iwads and games. The text files were added to improve the overall quality and to make the map set look like quality shovelware. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

I'm not sure it would work to pass a similar format on idgames. For the most part, I did it so that each wad would have its own file detailing the necessary information, so that the player could understand a little bit from the txt what the game has in store for them. It was also just a good rule to get participants used to preparing these txt's (because a lot of people forget about them, which I don't like, so I forced them attach a text file from /idgames to the wad when they sent their submissions), and besides, if they want to release their maps separately, they will have a txt ready for that. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
printz Posted December 15, 2023 Some of them have complete music in them so they might need to be stripped of it and replace it with some bog standard midi before uploading :) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Violent Dream ;D DrumUlquiorra is an active member of RDC, but she's not a mapper, she's responsible for idea of this map (and i'm very appreciate her input): something looks like Alice in Wonderland and adding violet colors on map. But in process i added some Umineko When they cry vibes (and OST) and on the finish we've got this map, that i sometimes can't understand how i even able to do this in 10 hours :D 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
