What do you guys use for custom MIDIs?

SepticDagger88

Question

Hey guys! I wish to know what you guys use for making custom MIDIs as at some point in the future I want to experiment with them. Also another question, how do you guys port the MIDIs into Slade.

I have not used custom MIDIs yet, but I was thinking about using some of FreeDoom's MIDIs for some levels I am working on. They are pretty good from what I remember and the license is permissive.

Lol I completely misread the question. Fail.

I’m learning how to compose midis, have been writing music for years now but want to make some Doom-style stuff. If I were you I’d look on the internet. There’s always lots of programs. I use OpenMPT personally, it’s a good program if you’d prefer a tracker.

I personally write for a death metal project.  All of the songs realease in my WADs and future WADs were composed in guitar pro, mixed in logic, then exported from logic as a MIDI file - after that, its simply a matter of drag and drop the music file into slade. some people that are really good at mapping (aka not me) use really intense structures in slade.  the method i used for my first map was far less elgant.  basically load in the midi file, move it above the map markers and write a map info definition that plays the s ong

right click where the file names are shown and click "import files", find the directory of your midi and import it, right click the midi and rename it to a doom 2 music lump.

(example: D_RUNNIN = Map01 midi) for more music lumps, click this: Doom 2 music lumps on Doom Wiki

Please credit the project for the music if you do so.
