This was like one negative tweet immediately taken back when proper context was known. And was prompted by Batandy replacing the ai art before any backlash. Replacing some minor assets from 2019 made with ai with non ai assets before the moral conundrum of ai generation was even a discussion.

I was approached in May via DM on Discord about getting involved with them. First impression was that they were coming on a bit too strong with the flattery, although I thought that could just be because they were eager to get people on board.

 

I exchanged some pleasant words with Hakros, but found myself wondering if there might be something spiteful at the heart of it, so kept my distance.

Unfortunately, even after people here did give polite criticism, it seems Hakros' approach was to use bots to inflate his follower count on social media over the course of a few hours. Seriously, check out some of these rabid Doom fans. I think "Zombie ninja wannabe" is my favorite, to say nothing of the "Passionate bacon practicioner". Except it looks like Twitter caught on and banned a bunch of them so the follower count is down to 600-ish, and that post no longer has more likes than views. That is a shame, because I was looking forward to the next step of the Doom Awards: promotional AI art for articles written by an AI to be read by... AI bots. All hail our new robot overlords, SHODAN and Durandal are not far away now.

 

Given Hakros has decided not to listen to criticism, polite or not, there's not much point in giving any more on this thread, or, in my humble opinion, doing so elsewhere for that matter. Well, what can I say, good luck for 2024! Hope the... war-torn Sudan or the... São Tomé and Príncipe Doomers enjoy it just as much as they did this year.
