id software heading to a galaxy far, far away for next game?

Honestly I think this is terrible, instead focusing on making a new and better doom game, they are doing star wars. Terrible honestly.

The rumor mill has now shifted over to Respawn Entertainment, meaning there are now four different studios that have been tied to the vague rumor of "making a Mandalorian game".

 

Either someone's just shotgunning studio names in the hopes of getting at least one right eventually, or they're all right and some very confused publishers are going to simultaneously drop like eight Mandalorian games well after the show's window of relevance.

 

Which do you think is more likely?

Probably a intentional leak from marketing to figure out if there is interested in the product.

Hey, that's how we got both Cryo's Dune and Westwood's Dune 2, so there's historical precedent!

According to a recent interview with the producer, Dune 2 happened because Virgin Interactive had absolutely zero faith Cryo's Dune would be anything other than a disaster and wanted to hedge their bets while they still had the IP rights, so they commissioned a second game from a different studio behind Cryo's back. 

 

Sometimes, the grim, undersouled meshing of art and business works out in spite of itself.

EA has exclusive rights to make Star Wars games last I checked. There's precisely zero reason to believe this was anything but yet another silly internet rumour.

You haven't checked in quite a while. Their exclusivity expired quite a ways back, and the next big AAA Star Wars game on the docket is coming from Ubisoft.
