Spear of Destiny enemy health and aggressiveness increase

In Spear of Destiny, floor 15, there are several mutants behind wells, yes? I tried to get out of that area as quickly as possible and was left with only 1 HP. (The mutants were extra aggressive and hit nearly every shot.) When I tried to kill the guards, it took unusually long to kill one guard with the chaingun, yes, the CHAINGUN. It normally takes under a second to kill one SS, but here on floor 15, it took several seconds for him to go down, and I died. What the hell is this? Is ECWolf 1.4.1 a buggy mess? I've seen other people play on the same floor and they made it to the ammo cache with 66 HP left and were able to kill the guards normally. On DEATH INCARNATE DIFFICULTY.

 

Might have to do with the fact I named the save "FUCK THIS LEVEL" after dying several times and the guards got mad and made my playthrough hell. Anyways, what's happened here? Do I need to downgrade to a version of ECWolf where the red tint after you die isn't the buggiest crap ever?

The enemies have random damage chances when you attack them, and they have random damage they can cause to you when they attack as well. It is never entirely consistent. Perhaps this is what’s happening and you just happened to be quite unlucky?

 

Also, all the guns in Wolf 3D do the same damage inputs, believe it or not. The only difference is their rate of fire, and the knife has a bit different damage than the guns, but that’s it.

In Wolfenstein 3D, damage and accuracy depend on distance and, when it comes to the player, you get hit far less often if you are running. That area in particular is congested and doesn't provide much in the way of running opportunities, so it is definitely one of the more challenging areas in SoD that I can recall.

Wait til you see the hardest level in Spear and arguably the most difficult level in the classic Wolf games afterward with the Ubermutant, who is far from that level's troubles.

This isn't even bad luck, randomised attack damage, far distance, or any of that stuff, it's either a bug or a silent punishment. I did Tab+I (basically IDFA but for Wolfenstein 3D) and then saved so I could "regain my progress", and every time I load the save the SS always has an ungodly number of hit points. In the ZIP file contains the video showing how the SS get a huge health bar when I cheat.

Maybe I'm just stupid and I need to restart Spear of Destiny then proceed to die internally getting my progress back,

It's probably how when you reload a save before a specific Imp in Doom that will never die in one shotgun blast even at point blank range with all the pellets hitting no matter how many times you reload it that Imp seems particularly "stronger" when in actuality you just rolled lower damage and it's stamped into the game at that particular moment.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what this sounds like here.
