SimonePiervergili Posted December 30, 2023 It's Pianoteq, it's my favorite physically modelled piano VST plugin. Not only pianos, also other instruments!!! 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
DoomGater Posted December 30, 2023 (edited) I prefer hardware synths like the Prophet-5. And yes, it is Doom-related, because I can play d_runnin with it. Edited December 30, 2023 by DoomGater 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
esselfortium Posted December 30, 2023 Pianoteq is very impressive. I tend to prefer sampling over modeling, though. I think a well-made sample library captures more of the natural character of the instrument and its performer. Even the top-of-the-line modeled instruments tend to still have a bit of a "this sounds modeled" artificial feel to them, to my ears. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
DoomGater Posted December 30, 2023 (edited) Modelling never had a good start. Technos Acxel had a good Interface, but not enough computing power. Yamaha's VL-1 and VP-1were really great, but extremely complicated to understand. In addition, the user did not have compete control of all of the engine's parameters. But indeed, they offered never-before-heard options and possibilities. It's a pity, that Yammie did not put some 'virtuality' into their new fantastic flagship Montage M. Roland's V-Piano was nice, but too limited. It's a Piano. ;-) Sampling offers good sound quality with minimal effort. No wonder, that the early Sampling workstations like Fairlight and Synclavier were sucessful from the start, even at their horrendous prices... :-) Anyway, I prefer an honest instrument like the Prophet (preferably v2 with those SSM-Chips), that does not pretend to be a piano, an organ or something else that it is not. But -of course- if you're in the need to arrange a complete score and you're not Hans Zimmer, a VST sample library is probably the appropriate means of choice. I like Pianoteq too, also, EastWest is also a very detailed and well-made sample library that I really want to try so bad. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
