Deadwing Posted December 31, 2023 (edited) OZONIA II, with the former name of Speed of Ozonia, is a low-key sequel to the first OZONIA, with a target goal of 26 maps divided through 4 episodes - it might have more maps, though! It started as a self-imposed speed-mapping challenge inspired by A2Rob's Machete, to create a Megawad in 1 month, but as I realized that was way too difficulty to achieve, I decided to try to work with a more reliable target date. The sequel will have all the key elements from the first one, but due to shorter development time (I'm aiming now at 4 months for mapping >.<), expect a more crude approach to monster placement with more chaotic setpieces - with a stronger influence of Machete - and 3-10 minute levels. I'd like to create a fair share of larger maps as well - 6-7 if possible, for more robust setpieces, but expect some narrative almost-monsterless maps too. At the current state, I've got 4 levels in beta state and 14 in alpha. Still have 2-3 months to wrap things out though :P Release date will probably happen in Q3 2024, as there's lots of testing and the soundtrack to do, also probably some breaks midway. Also, just wanna add, don't impose strict deadlines on yourself because that sounds like a recipe for burnout, especially when gunning for another megawad. Inspiration and creativity ebb and flow. Deadwing Posted January 21 (edited) Some more pics, aside from the ones already posted in the screenshot thread! Things are shaping up well, the hub maps will be a bit different from the first Ozonia, but hopefully they will as enyoable. I'm also giving more focus to secrets to time: they will be more numerous and easier to find, although one or another still might be tougher. I can't comment much on the layout from screenshots alone but it looks airy and open, which I like. You can experiment with combining colors and nuances while still keeping the wad's identity. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

As far as I'm concerned I can wait patiently and will do what I can to provide feedback as this thread is updated.
