Heh, thanks for playing my map! Yeah, it's too short, but considering that there will be no less than 40 other maps by the end, it'll serve as a good change of pace from the longer maps. It was also made as a map for me to train against cyberdemons, cause I tend to panic a lot around them.

AND it's great to practice for learning how BFG scanners work, as well as two-shotting Cybers.

got back to working on my map, a mix of just lost motivation and laptop charging issues caused me to stop working on it for a bit. this is an update of v4 with 1 new area and some actual doorframes for the outside area (so they don't just disappear into the sky, and maybe some other things i forgot i did, idk. the new area was from a couple months ago.)

Edit: Fixed some texturing errors.


Based on @Biodegradable feedback - updated my map by adding volume to the road section to make it less flat. Also fixed minor texture and items alignment.

Name: Everlasting Menticide
Format: GZDoom/DSDADoom (Boom can't handle a map this large, even though it was originally intended to be a Boom level)
Music: "All That Remains" by AD_79
Build Time: 2 months, roughly 200 hours

Play time: 3+ hours, please use save states for your own sanity. (sorry Bio)
Tested in: GZDoom, some DSDADoom, extensive playtesting is needed from others.
Difficulty Settings: Yes

Resources: A sky texture, and two more misc graphics.

This map is barely functional, I'm submitting a rough draft so that everyone can bring awareness of any bugs/exploits. I will make a few other modifications before the deadline. This map is essentially at the same scale of Mechadon's Vela Pax, so it's highly probably something is wrong.

This is a speedmap where I wanted to try something more vertical. It has inspirations in The Chasm and other similar maps, though this one has some devilish tricks up its sleeve. It is difficult, and may take some time to get your footing against the monsters, but is also fairly short. Hope it's fun!

 

Also, I did not disable jumping and crouching. I don't think those break the map, but I tested without them.

@Berubaretto I'm inclined to inform you that I got 47/48 kills on your level pacifist, with 100% on everything else. Makes for a real good challenge. Liked your level a lot!

@Obsidian Hi :) Are we allowed to use models at all? Models can't added to a WAD file AFAIK. I think they can only be read from a folder. It would mean that when submitting a map we would have to supply our Models folder as a separate download.

I assume that would necessitate the finished product being in .pk3 format, which I did address in the rules. Apologies!

That's cool 😎👍 I had a brain fart there. For some reason I thought the finished product would be in pk3 format lol. 😊

Format: UDMF

Additional Textures: OTEX, not included because it's such a pain to read and remove unused textures, I recommend playtesters boot OTEX with the map.
