Xymph Posted January 1, 2024 (edited) Happy New Year! The past one has been another fine year for growth of the one true wiki. Tons of new and improved content, new contributors by name and even some anonymous, and extensive maintenance in various areas. The past two months were no different, thanks in particular to the ongoing efforts by Dynamo (mods, people, etc.), Getsu Fune/NMM (secrets), Gauss (walkthroughs of Phobos: Anomaly Reborn and the first half of Doom the Way id Did: The Lost Episodes), Gregor (mods and more), MF38 (music credits), myself (uh, lots of everything), and especially Nockson who contributed a staggering 5,000+ edits since joining 11 months ago. A special maintenance can of worms opened by the latter in June wrapped up in December: the capitalization of Heretic and Hexen things. After an extensive discussion we settled on a renaming table that fits in with the wiki's capitalization policy. Applying these results throughout the wiki is still a work in progress. Other maintenance areas were file licenses, general formatting consistency, redirects, and more. And while Cacoward-ed mod coverage is not happening at the breakneck pace of preceding years, those gaps are sure to get filled in the weeks to come. And so I bid you a fond fondue with the comprehensive round-up of new articles: Core Content Bonus levelCacowards 2023Deathmatch (previously a small section in the Multiplayer article)DMFlagsDoot EternalProjectile spotSNDCURVE Ports HelionRussian Doom (2023) Tools DoomToolsLinux Doom Editor Mods (Map articles were postponed for some megawads not yet in a stable state.) Dynamo Posted January 2, 2024 An excellent send-off for 2023! Some long overdue content finally getting proper care, and I'm personally happy to see the Heretic and Hexen changes too - forgetting that unique capitalization quirk was slightly irritating when doing walkthroughs before... 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
DoomGappy Posted January 26, 2024 Don't know if this is the right place to ask, but how are megawad added to the wiki? I was playing switcheroom and it doesn't have an article there, though the lead, Jaws in Space, has one and the megawad is listed on his page. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

The Doom Wiki is a volunteer effort, so first someone needs to manually create the article following the proper instructions. Second, the Doom Wiki has certain notability guidelines which help with deciding what deserves and wiki article and what doesn't. For WADs, however, it is very flexible and open, so it ultimately comes down to who has the time and skills to create the article. Megawad pages tend to be very large and have multiple other pages for each map. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

Hope it gets a page someday, then, it's a fantastic project. I'm having a blast with the maps. And thanks for the effort you guys put into it too. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
