I like the Hot Coffee map. The Matrimony, not so much.

Well I do believe we’ve met the deadline! Thank you all for mapping, seems even just an extra week for the project bore a lot of fruit! Thank you all for mapping, I believe there might be a few things to take care of before RC1, but I could throw together an “RC0” very quickly after playing, again, thanks!

Well I finished playing through the... TEN maps I got in the last few days! I'm currently uploading a 2 hour long playtest video to YouTube, I'll compile an RC0 soon and we can work on squashing some bugs before RC1, I haven't done that now because unfortunately, I somehow completely forgot to play Dreadopp and Lord_Z's "Life Is Like A Box Of Demons", so I'm very sorry about that! Otherwise, here's the current map list which you can also see on the Google Sheets link at the first post on this thread, including my opening and ending map there will be 18 maps total, I'll post all feedback on what I've played including the map I missed and compile an RC0 tomorrow and as I said before, thank you all for mapping!

Any other location for downloading map06 - Long Distance Relationship?

The link in the spreadsheet is no good.

Probably an outdated version, there’s a version on the Discord server you can find

Sorry, don't know my way around the Discord server. Is there a Discord link?

That's really weird, can you not join the server? The invite's still functioning so I'm not sure why that could be

Anyway though, sorry for neglecting the thread for a while if you're not on the Discord server, I've been hard at work! Every map is now officially playtested and I have archives of all my playthroughs right here. I'll post my comments about the ones I missed (since I couldn't write them on my server) and additionally I've compiled an RC0! There's a few bugs that either need or I want to be rid of before RC1, but all the maps are together now!

FYI: Before RC1 I want difficulties and multiplayer starts in every map, PLEASE tell me sooner rather than later if you want me to do that, as I've mentioned, if you're not going to add those then I will

Here is a Map that @Sneezy McGlassFace and @LVENdead and I worked on!

Map Name: Sealed with a Kill

Strong map! Even beyond the Ancient Aliens music choice the fluid yet firm layout of this one did feel a little bit like a Skillsaw map, to be honest my complaints are very minimal with this one, to give you something momentously petty either way, I found the last fight kinda strange, you have a rather large courtyard the Cyberdemon emerges from, and that's it! If it were me I'd have thrown a group of Revenants and an Arch-Vile or two in there, that's subjective though, map doesn't need changes, good job!

Another pretty strong one! Admittedly it has been a while since I played this map at this point, it was on one of my earlier Twitch playthroughs before the deadline but I do recall having a good time with it and not many actual issues. I suppose what I'd say is I found the Rocket Launcher maybe a little hard to notice? I ended up completely skipping it somehow on my playthrough, even when I went looking for it in the main hub area. Maybe that's just me though. Overall, solid.

Man. I am so sorry for missing this map out, half because... well that's really unprofessional, and also because it's genuinely excellent. I'm not kidding, I don't even have any remarkably petty notes to shill out about this map. It's in my top two or maybe even top one maps I've received for this project. This is the kind of map I've dreamed about for a long time and never quite knew how to make work with no loose ends, I've always imagined how fun a map with multiple branching choices with different chunks depending on where you go would be a ton of fun, and it is! I'm pretty sure this map, if you don't savescum the choices for a short YouTube video like I did, needs at least three playthroughs to complete. And even the map itself had virtually no problems, none of the combat bothered me, I didn't notice any visual bugs (except the thing about NEWSKY4 on my video but that was on me, sorry) and it was just really nice overall. Doesn't need any changes at all, amazing job.

Also got a rather late submission from @Worriedidiot and @Nootsy-Nootsy which I played

Pretty good map overall, this type of flowing chaos in a map appeals to me, where the combat and layout work together in this rather delicious way, though I did have a few issues with this map that made it potentially a little cryptic. For one, this map has *three* SSGs in the outdoors area if I remember correctly, and yet I ended up completely missing the Rocket Launcher. It's hidden in kind of a pretty out of the way area, by the white door which you'd only really go to if you're exiting and it's hard for it to really catch your eye if you're running around from below. Second, I had no idea how to get the red key. I unfortunately idclipped on my video because I was nervous it would be the type of thing I'd take about 30 minutes to find, I had to go on Ultimate Doom Builder to verify that it wasn't just a complete softlock, long story short though I find the way you get to the red key by hopping over these balconies, edges and plants kind of a lot. I respect what you're going for with it, but personally if it were me I'd have cut off the first half and have maybe some kind of lift to get up to the edge on the left half of the southern building? It's your call, the map's not broken, but still I found that somewhat cumbersome. Additionally, slightly more petty, you didn't really mark the exit door with the white key. That didn't throw me off, but I thought I'd mention it anyway. I complained about this map kind of a lot, but I did have a good time with it overall. As I said, the layout and combat are both very strong, there's just a few bumps in the road I found you might want to smooth over.

Thanks, @NiGHTS108! This is my first mapping effort, to it means a lot that you liked it.  Obviously the fantastic detailing by LVENdead and inspired layout by Sneezy carry most of the weight here, so mad props to them. :D

I agree, adding a few revs or something to spice up the final cyber showdown would make that fight more fun. Do you have a preferred date to submit such changes, or are you ok publishing as is?  Thanks for the feedback. <3

You can submit changes pretty much any time from now until I begin the IdGames upload, as stated you don’t need to change the map if you don’t want to or anything either it’s purely just my suggestions

We can work on lots of conveyance for the player for sure. My goal with the balcony jumping was to softly enforce killing the monsters before you can make your way to the red key. It's kinda frustrating to work with that though because the player has saves and they don't actually need to be concerned that doing a certain task is obscenely hard, they just power through it thinking it's meant to be like that. I can make the entrance more obvious but you didn't even walk over to it when you had that goal of getting to it. I (or worriedIdiot) need to think about a smart solution that resolves my goal with a player's goal of getting the key as soon as darn possible. I'll consult with him. Rocket Launcher weapon is actually sort of a bonus, I could a second one behind the red bars when you really need it. Maybe I'm just blind but I couldn't find any obvious textures for marking a white door?

edit: Also I just realized im fricking dumb and there's an archvile you can't kill.... uhhhh

Sick.  I'll try and implement that over the weekend. Thanks again!

That fight and whole outside area was me taking a square monster closet (with just the Cyberdemon in it) and turning it into what you see in the finished map, with a few monsters that wake up and TP out (that's also why the weird TP linedef is there, because I used the wrong action instead of the monsters only one). When detailing, I tried to make sure I didn't materially alter the map's gameplay (minus a couple tweaks), but I agree it is a bit odd now since there's really nothing out there.

This was such a great experience! I don't think I'd ever be too eager to join up with people on a map without this project. But now I have, I'm very happy with how it went, and I look forward to teaming up with people again. Turns out group assignments can be fun, who'd've thonked?

Thought I'd post a little status update again, (again, join the discord for more frequent updates, it's easier to talk there), we're up to RC0.3, and RC1 will be releasing on March 5th! You will be able to edit any of your maps past that date of course all the way up until the IdGames release which I'll only do when we've definitely squashed every last bug and everyone's happy with their maps, also, about maps that don't have difficulties or multiplayer starts, unless you tell me otherwise and you are working on a new version of a map, I'm going to assume it's okay for me to add those things myself as I stated I would in the rules (though obviously I won't change anything else), anyway, thanks for mapping! Hope to see you all there for RC1!

For MAP11, we changed the sky being used in most of the outdoor areas to match the original look and added some minor detailing.

Download: Life is Like a Box of Demons

A note for anyone wanting to test it; you'll need to load RC0.3 above and then this map for it to work correctly.
