Started my E1M7 submission, and this constraint is going to be interesting. Apparently I use a lot of lines. Drew up a few basic areas and I've already used 25% of my line budget...

 

I love doing E1-style maps. It might be one of my favorite things to do as a mapper. Tech pillars and STARTAN everywhere!

Hey, I have a doubt before start working on my map.

Does the quote above refers also to BOSS enemies? barons / cyber-demon / mastermind

And, how about the weapons? Plasma Gun and BFG should be considered for this first episode?

I just thought... If it's limit removing, What is going to do be the deal with the E4 midis? iirc the e4 maps use midis from specific other maps. (or am I not knowing there's a way to have new midis play on e4 already?)

Good question, no restriction on weapons but I'd consider having the BFG as a secret if you want to include it, its your choice though. If you want to use a Cyber or Mastermind in E1M8 as well as Barons, then go ahead! It should be more difficult than the original E1M8, I think.

Crispy Doom supports using custom midis in the D_E4Mx slots, and UMAPINFO will handle other ports incase they don't, so no worries!

Started on E3M5! I also started E4M9 but not too ready to show off anything yet. This is definitely going to be an interesting little roundabout level for me to make...

This project is infuriatingly difficult to me. I love it!

 

I tend to always overdetail things, I have made a concept that I like enough but I'm currently sitting at ~600 lines and far from done.

Then I decided to restart and retry at something more compact, while respecting more the idea of the void rather than your typical Hell stuff. I have some cool ideas here that I like, but again I'm sitting at ~450 lines with only 3 rooms done...

I'm gonna have to restart again and focus on more practical map design and let detailing be a dream rather than a fact.

Also, I'm really used to Doom 2's texture set, and Ultimate Doom is lacking a lot of stuff I use frequently so I need to readjust on that. Leaving your comfort zone sur is tough!

NOTES: Tried to lean into some spooky dark evil energy for this one! Working within the line limit was tricky, but I managed to squeeze it all in.
