Great first/second map! Really hot start and some tough moments but nothing too extreme, though anyone thinking this will be easy since it's a first map is in for a surprise.

I figured out the other secret after I quit the demo, would've been helpful since health is pretty low for a while, but not essential. The one I did get was definitely impactful I think, and I would probably had a much tougher time without it, though maybe that's just because I felt bad at dodging rev rockets today.

Thank you! I just finished watching your demo, it definitely is very interesting seeing how others play and approach these encounters differently and I was very happy to see you make use of infighting, and yeah I intentionally hid the secrets from the automap as well, so far it seems everyone had troubles with the one you did miss.

also the plasma secret has a big cell pack on the cave, it's found on the right side as soon as you take the lift, it indeed does help with the outdoors area if you find it early

superb map didnt like ledge walk at start and expecting cyberdemon at last fight/area

still an exceptinal map for beginner

Very good map! I loved the frantic combat, the level was short and sweet, and the layout always pointed me in the right direction. Don't really have any critiques. In fact, I think there's a lot to learn from this one. Great job!

 

Love that wavy scrolling wall effect too, very creative.

Well this is a very nice introduction to yourself, but next time make sure that your archive file is zip, as source ports don't play in rar files.

Thank you! good job on that uv-max playthrough, I cheered when you got the final enemy with your last rocket. Sorry you didn't like the platforming but it's understandable, they might not be everyone's cup of tea.

Thanks! I'm glad you had fun and that you liked those textures though I didn't come up with the idea myself for that one.

Checks all the boxes for a good map. Fights are well designed and difficulty hovers around that good middle ground. For a second map you definitely know what you're doing.

Thanks for the kind words everyone, it means a lot and it's very encouraging, I honestly didn't expect such positive feedback and I'm definitely motivated now. 

 

For the ones that are having trouble finding the secrets I thought I could give some hints for each...

 

Secret #1

All I'm going to say is that it can be found before you take the first teleporter of the level, just knowing that it's around this area is enough, I'm sure you can find something that does not *match* with the rest.

 

Secret #2

You've seen the plasma, you have to land on it, the solution is not a teleporter and the path to it is closer than you think

Very good effort, especially on the combat! The starting fight feels like something that Joshy would do, and it doesn't feel like any of the fights can be cheesed (sort of, you can make the lowering floor ambush easier by camping near the yellow door). I'd call it on the upper end of Plutonia's difficulty. I died twice on my blind run (UV), but managed a single-segment on my third run. 

 

Secrets were fine by the way, didn't have any issue finding them. Looking forward to seeing more from you down the line if this is what you're already capable of!

Thanks! yeah I anticipated you'd try going back to that door which is why I placed that shotgunner window (and I could have been meaner and place more of em or a tougher enemy in that window) but one reason I don't like camping that place is because the narrow corridor won't give much space to dodge and if you happen to be on low health it's harder to get out. The two methods I like going for dealing with that fight are either rushing to the red key with the RL or just going for the enemies in front of the switch, both of these places have more room to dodge the upcoming projectiles and they'll infight a lot. 

 

Also I'm glad to hear that about the secrets, I was getting worried the first one might have been too obscure.

Very neat map, especially for a first public release and a second map ever. You made a great midi selection to go with it and the general tuning of the map is quite smooth, though I do like the chaotic spike of action with the floor lowering into a crowded slaughter room. Looking forward to seeing what you do next. :)
