roadworx Posted January 20 something that you don't see often (though i wish was) is creatively using doom's monster pathing in creative ways. a great example of this to give everyone an idea of what i mean by that would be Barbie Girl by capellan, someone who i will not be tagging this time because i have a feeling if i do one more time he's going to strangle me. it's this really neat map where you have to use a pinkie almost like a companion cube, guiding it around as part of various puzzles that you have to solve in order to progress through the map. knowing doom, this is likely very, very far from the only example. so what're some other cool ways that monster pathing has been used? 6 Quote Share this post Link to post
Shepardus Posted January 20 Noye MAP18, Noye MAP27, and D5DA3 MAP06 come to mind. 4 Quote Share this post Link to post
Danlex Posted January 20 Arch-Vile Jump Megawad MAP28, where you need to use a cacodemon like a wall to do a rocket jump. The caco appears far away so you have to guide it into the right spot to be able to do the jump properly (video). It's a bit of a pain to pull off, but I like the concept, and the map gives you multiple cacos, plus a bunch of health and rockets, so you can try the jump many times. 4 Quote Share this post Link to post
Andromeda Posted January 20 Only a little of the level involves using monsters to help you (not necessarily pathing actually), but MAP32: Ephemeral from 1000 Lines 2 CP is worth a shout - it's an interesting level anyway. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
