I'm unemployed! Because there's no fucking jobs left in Canada for someone who doesn't have any particular education, work experience, and connections!

Even if you do have work experience and connections - which I had to fucking McDonalds, quite an excellent connection might I add - tough shit for you anyways.

Seriously, I can't get a job flipping fucking burgers up here even if I'm friends with someone whose worked with McDonalds as a professional full-time salaried graduated-from-Burger-University manager. That's how shit it is up here.

I JUST WANT TO MAKE THE KRABBER PATTERIES FOR GOD'S SAKE

Security. I’ve been doing various jobs in this field for around 8ish years. Unarmed and armed and have done both as a contract security guard to private/in-house. Being a big tall guy, it is really easy to play the role and do the job well, but I despise security guards that think they have more power than they do. They give the rest of us a bad rep. I also hate “officer” because if I wanted that I’d be a cop. I’m a fucking GUARD.

I work in retail.

How do I feel?

HATE. LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I'VE COME TO HATE THIS JOB SINCE I BEGAN TO WORK THERE. THERE ARE 90 THOUSAND MILES OF NERVES UNDER MY FLESH THAT FILL MY BODY. IF THE WORD HATE WAS ENGRAVED ON EACH NANOANGSTROM OF THOSE TENS OF THOUSANDS OF MILES IT WOULD NOT EQUAL ONE ONE-BILLIONTH OF THE HATE I FEEL AT MY JOB AT THIS MICRO-INSTANT FOR MY JOB. HATE. HATE.

I work 4 hour shifts at a private Italian restaurant as a pizza chef and dish washer. The business is 70 years old and since ive been hired the pizza sales are up by 30%, so I'd say its a good job!

Gonna take a wild guess and say this is Arizona.

Love the scenery right there.

I work in IT at my university’s campus store. It’s a decent job, as I sometimes have time to do homework during my shift.

It’s definitely better than retail or fast food (both of which I’ve worked).

I went to school for audio and was a recording engineer at a K-Pop writing studio until 2020 when it shut down. I don't know, being stuck in LA traffic for two hours one way and working 10-12 hours a day with music I hate for a borderline religious cult was certainly an experience, but I've decided that I'm much happier at the Target less than a mile from my house. It does almost seem like a waste of schooling, and I feel like I always have to explain my decisions to old colleagues, but the time spent in quarantine let me reflect on what's important in my life.

I still do freelance mixing projects as well as singing and production gigs from home, and will occasionally look at classifieds in my field and interview with other recording studios to see if there's a vibe I can sync up with, but so far I'm still content with Target as my main source of income; it gives me a fair amount of physical exercise and social interaction which is sorely needed when working from home, and and there's no social pressure to pretend to be a christian or do things to appease Hollywood weirdos who think that everything they do makes the world a better place.

Long story short: I work at Target and find it much more fulfilling than "following my dreams".

I used to work in a grocery store, my supervisor constantly gave me crap for working in the wrong aisle in the store and when i asked where i i was supposed to be and not she told me it is impossible for her to know *insert that weird video game ost song that plays in memes when someone does something weird* ...that and a bunch of other crap made me quit and not come back for a single other day, i was on the edge of starting to scream that i hate my job in the middle of a aisle, that would have been a sight XD

Ain't nothing wrong with putting your head down and grinding so you can go home and give your life meaning on your own time. Employers need to start understanding that attitude doesn't make you less loyal or diligent. But some of them aren't happy running a company; they want excuses for turnaround to keep their workforce new and cheap.

I work in a hospital in IT as:

  • Service clerk. Meaning i get to answer most calls regarding most IT issues in the hospital. After 4 years i am kinda done with this considering that regardless of the answer i say or mail or powerpoint to them, ill get the same question a few weeks later.
  • Workplace engineer. Repairing and restoring most kinds of IT-related equipment. And yes, just like in the 1980s, printers are still the bane of our existence. Its pretty unique how 40 years of development and tech progression haven't fixed anything when it comes to the printer side of things.
  • Contact person for insurances. Doctors need special declaration forms if they want to do procedures that fall outside most insurances. To do that, they need clearance. I manage those certificates.
  • Project manager. One of my bigger project is replacing the nurse call system. When patients require help, they push a button to do so. That system is under my control. This used to be the 90s style pager devices (Yes, we still have those!) but just finished transitioning to a smartphone-based framework.
    • The uptick has been immense. There are barely any broken devices now, people get help quicker and its one of the few projects in the department that actually just work. Even when this isn't getting recognized as such, i am immensely proud of it for delivering something that just works from the get go - which should be the standard for anything if you ask me.

I like my job but i don't like the bureaucracy. It has made me decided to take less from my boss than he would expect me to be.

Hospital logistics, working in the surgery ward. Different tasks, but the main point is to make sure the ward doesn't run out of surgical and medical equipment.

I'm requesting to get back on ordinary logistics department because this place is a mess, and one co worker is a pain in the ass. As soon as particular money issues have been resolved I'm going to study so I don't end up being stuck in this madhouse.

I worked in heavy industry, in a bakery, in a greenhouse, in a processing plant, in retail, in a hospice.

Now I work in a printing house. Compared to everything that happened - not a bad job

Printers are indeed the bane of our existence. At my university, printers don’t break down too often, but when they do it’s an absolute pain to fix.

I handle commercial insurance claims, in addition to dealing with referrals / queries from colleagues. Think buildings, stock, business interruption, that kind of thing.

I work on IT (network support) for an american company. I dont like it at all, but I at least get the chance to work from home.

About 4 years ago i went back to college to get a librarian degree, back then there were plenty of opportunities on the public sector. Two years ago we got a very right leaning president elected and the education and culture budgets got quite a big hit. I will graduate in a couple of months, but dont think i will be able to change jobs anytime soon until the next election.

I also work in a hospital, in the Finance department. I just got promoted from Finance Officer to Accounts Payable Manager last November. So far most of my role has involved preparing and sending reports to more senior managers and filling in sick leave forms, but hey I get to pass 95% of supplier's emails onto the team which after 16 years of dealing with them is pretty great :)

I used to do quality assurance and low level game dev tasks on top of that, and got my fingerprints into one of the top ten selling games ever, so that was neat. Then I left due to privacy invasion stuff, which is all too common with employers nowadays, and no longer trust any employer to keep their nose out of my life, so everything I do now is freelance.
