My Gzdoom keeps running the unity doom version instead of anything else

Recommended Posts

So basically I am trying to run a wad that I downloaded and my gzdoom keeps automatically opening doom unity version. I also have tried this for other wad files but it keeps running as unity doom. But thee weird thing is when I drag and drop doom 2 onto it it runs it. It never shows up with the Iwad selection screen, I have tried turning this off and on. I have gzdoom and all of it's files in the same file, along with doom 2 and the wad I'm trying to use. I also deleted my doom.wad wad file so I not sure where it's coming from. The only thing I can think of is the queryiwad thing. But I have tried looking into it and some how found no clear instructions. Sorry if this is a dumb question I just am not sure. Thank you

You mentioned the "queryiwad" config; what is that currently set to? (It's "Show IWAD selection dialog" in the game's miscellaneous options.)

The Bethesda Softworks version of DOOM (DOOM I Enhanced), and the original DOOM (GT Interactive) will both contain a DOOM.WAD file.

You will need a copy of the DOOM.WAD file from the original DOOM game to play GZDoom with the original DOOM content.

This website will provide information about the Doom Classic Unity Port:

Hold down Shift immediately after double-clicking GZDoom. That will bring up the IWAD selection menu. Make sure "Don't ask me again" is unticked.

This way, it'll always ask you on startup what IWAD you want to run content with.
