OniriA Posted January 27 (edited) Download Originally this began as part of the DW Dating Simulator project, but due to my map requiring jump for progression I decided to release it standalone. The map combines platforming gameplay with some puzzle elements alongside combat. Exploration is rewarded as there are many secrets and alternative paths towards the exit (some hidden behind secrets), intending to stimulate multiple playthroughs (inspired by Resident Evil). Will you be able to make it to the hidden Palace of Desires unscathed? The demons are also lurking and waiting.. Tested with: DSDA Doom & Gzdoom Recommended port: Preferably Gzdoom, but will also run on DSDA Doom. Just make shure to have mouselook and jump on. Important note: Jumping and Freelook required. Coop starts and monsters: Included. Difficulty levels: Included. Resources: Textures from Makkon, Otex and PUSS XXIV. Only textures, no custom sprites (see txt. file for full credits). Releasedate: 14th February. Screenshots: Edited April 19 by OniriA 41 Quote Share this post Link to post

Hope to share a few extra peaks before release. ;) I'm having so much fun getting new ideas constantly for the map that I almost don't wanna release it. I hate the idea of starting in a ugly startan box again for a new one while I'm in a sweet flow for this one. 💜 Working on this map is meditating to me. I'm in my own immersive world and I don't wanna leave it. Edited February 13 by OniriA 3 Quote Share this post Link to post

apichatpong Posted February 17 (edited) Took a tour on this one and catch a glimpse of a beautiful work... but I'm totally unable to move forward... I really feel dumb (and dumber... and dumberer). I mentionned somewhere else that I finally was able to do sr50 jumps... seems that I still have a lot of work to do ! I'm not even able to reach the first big pilar of the big cave you fall into. Must miss something... another route... maybe strafejumps are not needed... will explore more. So, a bit puzzled because of skills issues (and silliness ?) but intrigued. Edit : Well... HOLY F...... GOD... just read the OP and the fact that jumps are required... so it really was silliness ! sorry Edited February 17 by apichatpong 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

apichatpong Posted February 19 (edited) I'll be honest : I confirm the fact that it's beautiful, nice cave architecture, nice variations on textures, great atmosphere and good midi, but... incredibly difficult because full of punishing traps, plus the fact that I never played with jump and freelook (and since i play only on keyboard... let say it's hard, very different from what i'm used to do and the gameflow is, by consequence, chopped). The jump-platforming on the west of the principal cave was hard, had to cheat to survive the snippers... Then Spoiler you got me with the last lowering platform of this section. did it again, manage to pass and... you got me with the crushers did it again, manage to pass but didn't know what to do after (blocked on either side of the balcony) went back, teleported to the cave entrance and, while, at the beginning, I found strange to be blocked on the sides of the corridor leading to the "find my heart or face the flames", on my return there I've found the small passage to the east side of the cave, found the hearts i needed to find, did some jump platforming, went back at the entrance and discovered that a secret entrance had opened, run through it and... you got me with the archviles ! Just stopped a bit to realize there was no easy way to hide from them and a crusher splashed me. Stopped here (mostly because of overall skill issues... you know, i'm not a good doom player... (In fact, since i'm saying it in almost all my posts, i think i'll choose this as my avatar title...)). I'll try again because it's something I want to explore but, not entirely my cup of tea, I prefer the old school way. But, it's personal feelings, you did a great job and now I understand why it's some kind of date simulator*, in France we call that "livre dont vous êtes le héros" (at every page, you have two or three choices of route to follow, some are deadends, some lead to different routes etc)(of course, in the "livre dont vous êtes le héros" there was no Love dimension but, as Pat Benatar said : Love is a battlefield !). Very original one (even if I'm far from having really explored it) ! * Made me think of this scenes from Groundhog day where Bill Murray want to seduce Andy mcDowell and learn, repeated day after repeated day (and after many fails), all that she loves : sweet vermouth on the rock, always drinking to world peace, she loves french poetry etc Edited February 19 by apichatpong 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
OniriA Posted February 19 (edited) Hey @apichatpong, when you reached the fenced balcony Spoiler there is a teleport line near the end of the fence that leads you further to the platforms above, sometimes you have to wiggle back and forth a bit there to trigger it. So it's not actually a dead-end even if it appears that way ;) Edited February 19 by OniriA 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
myolden Posted February 20 Hey, this looks cool! Quick question: did you use the Lover's Quarrel resource for this? If so you may want to update your post to credit PUSS XXIV instead of PUSS X (which was Summer of Slaughter, which just used OTEX IIRC). 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

OniriA Posted February 21 (edited) An updated version has been uploaded. The update includes: * Small visual adjustments and corrections * Made some lines impassable as there was a spot where the player could get stuck if it snuck through. * Updated the txt file. This should be it for now. From now I'll leave it to the players to report any issues if they face any. Enjoy Edited February 21 by OniriA 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
