Some music for my maps (supposedly)

Recommended Posts

I suck at composing mostly and still needs a lot of learning but these are attempts on making some OSTs for my maps. Most of them are unfinished and don't know how to finish them.

Heyo! Thought I'd drop by and give my own two cents, even though I know jack all about music theory.

IRON MAIDEN:

This one has a solid base to work with, I dig the bells section alongside the voices. The saw wave and bass part however seems a bit off, I feel like some notes aren't in the same key, and there isn't a clear melody going on, the drumming could also use some variation.
All in all, this track oddly reminds me of Clockwork Wumpa from Crash Nitro Kart (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAL31IKaxbI&pp=ygUTY25rIGNsb2Nrd29yayB3dW1wYQ%3D%3D), maybe listening to that might help you come up with ideas, cause I really dig the "holy" sounding part at the beginning with the bells, it sounds ominous but grand, and the drumming gives it a nice boost.

NO:

This one is pretty good! I like the slower part, and the part after it especially, the synth chords are really nice, and gives a hopeful tone, I think it may benefit from a clearer melody, but I personally have no complaints. Structure-wise, it might be best to start with something a bit less in-your-face, maybe have the drumming by itself, and start gradually introducing instruments? As for how you'd continue this, I think it'd be nice to reprise the beginning melody, and adding different parts.

RUST:

I like the tone of this one, and how you included guitar harmonic. There seems to be a sour note at around the 0:24 and 0:36 marks. I like the use of chords followed by the initial guitar notes, but I feel like they're a bit too quiet, safe for the ending part, and they only play on my right earbud, dunno if that's intentional or not. Once again, I like the use of voices. You could introduce different instruments to break up a bit of the repetition, but once again, this one has a good base to work with.

These tracks were pretty good all around, some improvements could be made here and there, but not gonna lie, stuff like "NO" I'd really like to hear in a WAD.

Hope I was helpful, and best of luck!
