Why was a certain thread closed?

I just came back on doomworld and I saw that the "React to the profile picture above you" is a spam thread? You see, since September I have been looking for the "official guidelines and rules of doomworld" and all of a sudden after being around for a while it gets closed. I'm sorry if it sounds like I'm whining and complaining too much, I'm just asking a question.

I'm sorry about this, I see that the other threads have been closed and I just couldn't understand why it was allowed to go on for a while. I just didn't understand the full definition of a "spam thread"

I'm gonna go on a limb and say it's because very little of importance, interest or value is posted in said threads and nothing would be lost if it was gone yet it floods the forum with thousands of posts and forever stays at the top of the list, pushing more interesting discussion down?

Can we stop complaining about possibly the most vapid and banal thread on DW being removed?

 

I swear I've seen this a thousand times in the last week. Please, just forget about it already...
