What is your opinion on Thy Flesh Consumed?

It's good, but for some reason, whenever I try to play it, I immediately back out and play another wad. I don't mean that sarcastically, I genuinely think TFC is good, I'm just mentally unable to play it.

The only cons about it are that the map order could be better, and there's no unique boss for this episode.

Best aesthetic. The hardest maps of it are probably the best from Doom 1. The rest are kind of bland but E2 and E3 have some horrible maps so it stands better. E4M9 sucks. I like it. The sky is the best it has going for it.

E4M1 has the best gameplay I think, no health (it was stolen) on UV but not too many enemies. You can hide and snipe the shotgunners to collect ammo from them and build it up to the Baron battle. It is also necessary to use the pistol at times.

E4M7 may look better with the Dr Sleep night sky.

E4M4 would be better with Doom 2 textures (BSTONE, etc).

E4M9 is not very fearful.

E4M6 is the best map in TFC.

I agree, e4m4 would look boss with Doom 2 textures. Chuck some BSTONE and pipes in there - perfect.

Aside from E4M2, E4M4, and E4M6 (all of which I think are trash), I'd say it's quite good.  E4M1 in particular is fun as hell.

E4M2 and E4M6, both? I'm curious, what do you not like about them? (apart from being fast paced and chaotic, which I know isn't everybody's thing.)

I just really find their designs boring and tedious with poor overall flow.  I wouldn't call them fast paced and chaotic by any means.

Fair enough, though it's funny that you don't consider E4M9's design boring :P

Used to not be a big fan of it until recently, when I pistol-started it as a means to force myself to discover the "correct" way of playing each map.

I appreciate it much more now as a whole.  Well made maps

The fact it is made with a wide variety of mappers and showcases the widest variety of terrain and play styles means it's the greatest and most influential Doom episode ever made.

E4 is pretty good compared to E2 and E3. Both of those episodes have their ups and downs but are bland and boring overall.

I love it. It's my favorite episode after Episode 1. E4M1 and E4M2 are still my favorites despite the eff you difficulty. Even so, not every bad is brilliant but overall I love it.

It's a pretty decent add-on for a new episode and for a second appearance for the Spider Mastermind. Some nice extra maps with loads of more challenges and designs added to the structure and dynamics of the maps themselves for gameplay experience.

 

Would have been nice if it had one more additional new boss at the end besides the Spiderdemon lol.

Best episode of the 4, on the whole. Maps 1, 2, and 6 are imo better than anything in the first 3 episodes. The rest of TFC is a bit hit and miss, but on average better than the rest.
