Doom Eternal Crashing on teleporting screen.

Recommended Posts

Hi there! So this happened about 1 month ago. So one day I launched Doom Eternal from steam and then during the teleporting screen it got stuck for no reason. I waited several minutes but nothing happened and the frametime graph in several cases was either straight or had a huge spike. When i switch apps then it's just a black screen (not the entire OS just the game). I also reinstalled the game today but still it didn't work

I also did the following:

- Verified the game files

- The CPU and memory usage were normal during the run

- Changed several launch options like removing the opening video intro, trying to launch in windowed mode

- Reinstalled the game 2 times

- Manually delete the game folder and compatdata folder and reinstall the game

- Moving the game from external drive to my main nvme SSD.

- Installing another OS(Linux).

- Clearing steam overlay data and using base proton version.

This is happening since the installation of Kaiser campaign. I didnt install the mod properly like pasting the xinput.dll and the overrides folder. I did try to install it the right way after reinstalling it but it didn't work. One important note is that the music is the only thing that works. When I switch apps the fps counter(steam fps counter) and teleporting screen disappears.

 Specs:

- Memory: 12.0 GiB

- Processor: 11th Gen Intel® Core™ i5-1135G7 × 8

- Graphics: Intel® Xe Graphics (TGL GT2)

 Software Information:

- OS Name: EndeavourOS

- GNOME Version: 45.3

- Windowing System: Wayland

- Kernel Version: Linux 6.5.13-7-MANJARO

Yes, I am using Intel Iris Xe GPU and it worked perfectly fine before incase ur thinking that it's the problem. If i recall i spent about 20-25 hours playing Doom Eternal on linux without any issues. So any help is really appreciated!

It's probably better to post this on the DOOM Eternal board (as opposed to the DOOM Classic board, where we are).

But moreover, you're more likely to get tech help on the Steam forums for the game. Doomworld is more of a DOOM culture forum.

That said, if I had to guess, this has to do with improperly installing the mod in question; or—if the mod adds any new shader code—an incompatibility between the mod and the GPU (usually I wouldn't even consider this, but the Intel APUs have some funky drivers).
