Can't get server up

I'm trying to host a server but I can't. Every time with either Doom 1 or 2 I get this error message even when mods are turned off. I'm assuming I have everything set up correctly as I followed a guide but I can't seem to get it up and running. I'd be greatful for any and all help.

Port 10666 UDP is already in use somewhere on your system and thus cannot be bound (which is what EADDRINUSE refers to). Close the existing program using it, or use a different port number.

I just noticed now, you are launching gzdoom with Doomseeker for the Zandronum configuration, it's not made for this and the two are not the same. Either point the program path to Zandronum as expected to launch your server, or head over to this page on the ZDoom forums which explain GZDoom's networking (and use a different program/terminal to launch it instead).

I just did, and I got the message to allow people to join. I'm still stuck on the console player number being 0 though and I'm still stuck on the screen in the image above.

Are you trying to host a server on GZDoom, or Zandronum? Please be clear about this.

Well I was trying to host on GZdoom, I wanna use the voxel mod. But after swapping to Zandronum like you said it worked. But I wanna primarly use GZdoom as I'm a bit more familiar with that, plus my controls don't get reset to the original controls for some reason.

Then unfortunately you seem to be quite mistaken on how that works, GZDoom and Zandronum multiplayer is not the same. GZDoom excepts all players to join up before the game starts, as explained in the guide I linked to you. It is not designed for doomseeker and you cannot use it that way.

I implore you to please read what I am saying. And to read the thing I linked to you!

  • There is nothing actually wrong going on here, look at the message at the bottom of screen that says Waiting for players -> 1/2. It is waiting for a player!
  • GZDoom expects all players to be present before the game actually starts! That is what that screen is showing you, it is waiting for player 2 to join!
  • It is not a public server, you need to coordinate with a friend for them to join the game!
  • It is not designed to run from doomseeker!

Please, I beg you, please actually read what I am saying, I am running out of ways to explain this to you.

You'll need to update the configuration to point at zandronum.exe, not zdoom.exe -- you can grab that from here if you don't have it yet.
