Doominator2 Posted February 22 Who's your favorite male video game character? (Doomguy not allowed) I'm going with Larry Laffer because I'm heading down the trajectory of becoming him with ever year that passes. 6 Quote Share this post Link to post
Ozcar Posted February 22 (edited) Wait, did you say male video game character? Oh sorry, here one of my favorite male video game character. Spoiler Edited February 22 by Ozcar 4 Quote Share this post Link to post
Jello Posted February 22 (edited) Caleb because he's an evil asshole who joined a cult and sold his soul to a demon so he could live forever, and then got betrayed, and his girlfriend was killed and he came back from the dead and killed a bunch of people because he's a psychotic piece of shit. I'm sure this thread is a weird counter to the "favorite female video game character" thread, but I would think that my opinion will attest to my shallowness when it comes to male characters in video games. Murdoch Posted February 22 Off the top of my head, Geralt from the Witcher and Sigma from Bioshock 2: Minerva's Den. Can't say why for the latter without spoiling it but if you know, you'll know. Voice actors for both characters did phenomenal jobs and really elevated the material. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

I had low expectations going into Minerva's Den with how disappointing I found the Base Bioshock 2 to be, but Minerva's Den is just something else. Probably one of the best story DLCs for any game I've played 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Taw Tu'lki Posted February 22 Duke Nukem, Max Payne, Hitman and many many male characters from games. Because 90% main characters from games are men. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Chrysaetos Posted February 22 Well, I guess it's BJ from Wolf3D. If anything it's the first fps game I played so he holds a good place in my memories. 7 Quote Share this post Link to post

Pechudin Posted February 22 Kim Kitsuragi from Disco Elysium (answer might change with time). Definitely not the detective duBois. 4 Quote Share this post Link to post
mrthejoshmon Posted February 22 I love JC Denton's design (it's literally just blue Wesley Snipes Blade) and the VA is great, even if it is goofy. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

Dude always classes up the joint when he shows up and his performance in the game was genuinely moving. 100% sold something a lesser actor would have phoned in for an easy pay check. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
ReaperAA Posted February 22 After careful consideration, I am going to go with this: Kane from C&C franchise. 9 Quote Share this post Link to post
CrocMagnum Posted February 22 (edited) Wei Shen (Sleeping Dogs): an infiltrated Cop dealing with the Triads in Hong Kong. Wei Shen is very well written character. For instance The Funeral mission is quite revealing (SPOILER): Spoiler Wei Shen answers to Pendrew (who's a bastard). Pendrew just shows up with cops during a funeral, disrespecting the dead, his family and the Sun On Yee (a Triad). That's when Wei Shen totally loses it and says to Pendrew (his Boss): "HEY! You! You can’t do this here! It’s a fucking funeral! God damn police. Why don’t you show some fucking respect. Huh?" The anger of Wei Shen feels genuine, like he really meant what he said to Pendrew. This is a defining moment. When Wei Shen mentally crumbles and thinks he's Triad. And man the last stretch of the game: Spoiler I felt the ordeal of Wei Shen in my bones. That's what I call a memorable game. Samuel (Dishonored 1): amazing how a mere NPC can leave his mark (edit: Dishonored pun intended). He's a just a boatman taking Corvo to his missions. Sometimes he'll make a comment. Some of these lines are just unforgettable. Like after mission "High Overseer Campbell": "Men of the faith shouldn’t live like Barons." Doomkid Posted February 22 One of my favorite men in gaming is Coach from Left for Dead 2. I'm a total sucker for his combo of tropes: the middle-aged everyman who's tough but kind, a bit out of shape but still not one to fuck with, and just has this likeable demeanor all around. I really hope you guys don't go around calling men "males" in everyday life. It's offputting even beyond the latent implication that all men are male, it just has this hypermassive turbo-virgin energy to do so lol 12 Quote Share this post Link to post
Li'l devil Posted February 22 People posting Coach from L4D2, but I actually really like Nick. His usual deadpan sarcastic attitude is pretty funny, and the voice acting is perfect for this role. "Ellis, shut up contest! One, two, three, GO!" 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
ReX Posted February 22 (edited) 15 hours ago, Jello said: "Caleb" Yes! Hell, yes! Such an iconic character I will say that Duke Nukem is also terrific. I guess that giving the character a voice makes a huge difference in shaping the character's personality. And let's not forget Lo Wang, the irreverent shuriken- and katana-wielding protagonist of Shadow Warrior. The Build Engine developers understood that killer one-liners brought their characters to life. Edited February 22 by ReX Added content 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
ReX Posted February 22 Arthur Morgan of Red Dead Redemption 2 John Marson of Red Dead Redemption is another good character. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
