Getting rid of Doom's randomness

I don't really like randomness in any game - it trivializes achievements and removes the skill factor, even in the tiniest ways. I'd prefer if a game like Doom had its damage output depend on shot distance, and its enemy behaviour consistent. Is there any way to do that? Or has someone already done that before?
