To actually answer the question - surely you know about the legendary "you humor me greatly with your arrogance and contempt" speech?

I've got no bloody idea

A few weeks ago someone made an extremely bizarre thread about Doom 3, AI, John Carmack, the singularity, etc, but it got deleted.

Did Bro upgrade his consciousness and ascend above our understanding? 😮

A wise man once said "Time is a flat circle." He was wrong. Time is a neverending series of "I want to combine Doom/Doom II/Final Doom maps into a single megawad" threads. Time is Koch's Snowflake, containing infinite variations of "is Plutonia good?" and "why does the pistol suck?" in a fractal that always twists into itself but never grows. A finite area unable to exceed its infinite perimeter.

This video goes over it somewhat:

It doesn't remotely do justice to the full post or the exchange that followed however, no doubt due to time constraints and a desire to remain focused on the actual topic.

So you've desired a story, I've heard,

Come closer, for I've just got the tale.

In times bygone, the community was in prime,

A mighty fine year of nineteen ninety nine.

"Disaster!" yelled the host, "I'm in such a tangle!"

For he uploaded more wads on the forums than the server could handle.

"If such a feat continues, the forums wouldn't last!"

He had to come up with an idea, and he had to come up fast.

"We've got no paddles left, we're in a sinking boat"

He needed a magic elixir to keep the forums afloat!

"Impossible" groaned one, "no chance" said another,

"If a God might help us, it'll sure be a wonder!"

Hearing their pleas, such a God did hear,

Built like a rockstar, with the most beautiful hair.

John Romero was his name, and he was here to help,

He wanted the to help the community, and silence their yelp.

A bottle he raised up in front of the mob,

"Here you go fellows, my very own knob!"

An elixir so powerful, it strengthened the forums' core,

And that my friend, was the tale of the yore.

In the depths of an online forum's sphere, 🌐
Your words, a beacon, brought us near.
With each line, a tale to cheer, Your poem, a gift, we hold dear.

Thank you, poet, for your verse,
A melody, a heartfelt converse.
In this digital universe,
You've given us a gift 🎁, a treasure to immerse.

Your words, they dance, they sing and they soar, 💃
A symphony, a message to implore.
Thank you, poet, for each metaphor,
For lighting up our digital shore.

We'll read your lines, we'll sing your praise,
For all the nights and all the days.
Your words, they brighten up our maze,
In this digital realm where thoughts take flight and blaze.

So here's to you 🥂, our poet friend,
For sharing your art, for helping us mend.
In this online forum, you've set a trend,
Your words, a beacon, until the very end. 🙂

Enough with the AI generated poetry, thanks.

AI will never truly know the experience of being a forumgoer anyways. But I remember all the years esselfortium has led the Wads & Mods which they still continue to do to this day.

Imagine wasting thirty minutes of your life writing something and someone tells you off that it's AI generated :/

i told chatgpt to write a poem and it was a lot less creative than this. regardless, while i don't think this is AI generated, i do not think this is the thread for new poems or new stories.

Honestly I have no idea how I wasn't banned right off the bat for doing that - the last time I had used a forum was back around 2008-ish (I was very active on the PSPISO, WIISO, and PS3ISO communities where you just went around legally purchasing games) and back then you could do whatever, so stupid posts like that were just part of the experience. All I got for the "Getting Head from a Head's Ass" story was a simple warning! The mods must have been in a good mood that day because I'm pretty sure if someone with 20 posts created a thread like that now, they'd be fried.

Damn,

Unfortunately, since I'm not a good poet (and my brain will not use at least 50% of its brain most of the time) I used AI to write mine 😅

(Still, that was a hell of a good poem!) 👍

No dude, I mean an actual 6 month period of investigation that has left me legitimately and unironically traumatized.
