plums Posted May 22 Heyo Clippy, finally got to playing this over the past few days. Lots of fun! I confess that I was a bit worried that a whole megawad of Clippy maps would be a bit too gimmicky at once, but there's enough variety here, as well as enough classic Doom gameplay to compliment the wackiness, that I had a great time through and through. I recorded demos of my playthroughs if you're interested, needs dsda-doom, recorded in 0.27.5. There are definitely moments where the fun of watching probably stops earlier than the demo does, so if you do watch them don't feel compelled to sit through everything. There were a few maps where I went back to look for secrets after I stopped recording, notably in MAP31 where I did eventually figure out the secret exit. crate_escape-plums.zip Not sure what else to say, good job pushing through the mapper's block and getting this done in under a year! 4 Quote Share this post Link to post

Oh man, on vacation and what a surprise to see this - thank you SO much! Sometimes I dont know what to do with myself or what to watch but this is gunna be great! Glad I didn't go too Clippy, seems like so many ppl want the same ole, same ole just shoot things and thats it - serious stuff only haha, I try to add a lil comedy and levity and intrigue to it. Glad I kept everything balanced enough that hopefully no gimmick overstayed it's welcome. I had a lot of fun making these eh - tried to come up with a fresh new idea each time so nothing felt repetitive, I hope I'm not sure if I really had mappers block, just got a little weary and running out of steam in the end, glad I could get it done again thanks so much will gladly watch these! I can fast forward thru the lulls you mentioned but no worries haha 4 Quote Share this post Link to post

Clippy Posted May 31 Happy Fried Chicken Friday everyone Here's an earlier map that I made that I'm pretty happy with who doesn't love a good series of barrel explosions and also I figured out how to teleport monster corpses which was pretty fun Aliens @Dubbag remember those lights? Stupid Bunny Posted June 4 Finally found some play time in between everything else! Had to keep going I needed to know where that drop would take me Spoiler MAP17: This was a baffling ordeal but in the best possible sense--after taking the stairs to heaven it's time to visit Hell, but rather than fire and sulfur and shit it's a twisted mind puzzle of a place and I love that. Great traps and frenetic action as always. Managed to find at least a couple of the secrets too along the way. (Oh yes also I think I got softlocked in one of those key spirals, pretty minor though.) MAP18: I love city maps and big sprawly towering open areas so this was right up my alley. I got lost a couple times which I normally don't manage in your maps, first trying to find any keys at all and then figuring out what the colored switches opened--both of those could probably be termed my fault especially the second one since they're literally side by side, lol. Not clear how much of the map is optional but that isn't important, I like maps full of optional exploration and stuff. Oh yeah that trap with the soulsphere in the little pond got me good the first time I really should've known better MAP19: I think the first portalcrates I've seen. I like the thing of the imps slowly closing in from far away, makes it more exciting when it feels like I'm under siege the whole time. It was pretty tricky carving out anything resembiling a safe niche, as even with so much cover the telecrates kept moving archies in near me and the pass-through crates made it hard to tell where I was under fire from. It got much easier though once I noticed there was an abundance of berserks up for grabs. MAP20: I can't figure out how to exit--do I just need to straferun out of the crusty red room of death?--but other than that I always enjoy a puzzly telefrag-heavy map like this. Was properly scary a couple times being snuck up on by a cybie while waiting for stairs to rise or something like that. Oh yes and more big open spaces. I'll keep at it and see if there's something I'm missing or if escape is just a skill issue 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Clippy Posted June 8 hey guys hey busy times, only now getting to sit at computer and reply. Everything in my house and garage is breaking and I hurt my head doing renos lol anywho @Dubbag Sears amirite, that map and video was a great time bud - legit, miss our hangout sessions @lirui1001 Thanks for sharing here and pulling these off. As a creator it's fun to see blind reactions but also very fun to see a map you made mastered and played at peak performance like this, you did techniques I never even thought of haha - great vids bud @ipaqmaster Thanks for stopping by and glad you got entertainment out of my silly maps bud @Stupid Bunny Nice to see ya, I hope to play more of your maps too some day just time constraints are a bitch - 17: I tried to make the key spirals not trappable just sticky, I tested in crispy, dsda and gz and was never able to completely stuck myself, I always fish flopped out of there somehow - wonder if u were truly absolutely stucked. 18: good stuff, yeah this could be my most confusing map just how it ended up haha - and as for what is optional, well.. the entire map can be skipped :P 19. A map that could only exist in this set as large cat said, the blue ones were introduced here to add to the "cognitive load" 20: is a map Im most happy about, once you hit exit button you will eventually blow up romero regardless. Try to survive if you can, nobody has been able to do it yet (except freelook rocket jumping which is kind of illegal haha) Always fun to see your feedback man thanks so much and @plums I'll never forget you made demos for me, its just finding time to watch em is hard as I need our shared computer. My wife and mom going to paint pottery or something stupid so Im going to take this time to work on RAMP map, only have this month to do it I'll be back later with more time to resume my reveal series, I missed this week Take care all and thanks for the support!!! 7 Quote Share this post Link to post
Clippy Posted June 14 Alright, want to get back to my fried chicken reveals Here is map 13, a short silly map I just had to make. Took a lot of tinkering and restructuring just to get this tiny sleep paralysis simulator to work : 4 Quote Share this post Link to post
Clippy Posted June 21 (edited) Here is 14, I never usually do this but I attempted to make a more darker and creepier map Many inspirations from @Snaxalotl in this set, of course name is parody of stickney installation (worth checking out if u havent played) I've also included a bonus strategy run to make the ending easier Thanks for your support everyone and happy Fried Chicken Friday Edited June 21 by Clippy 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
