Abandon Nukage Plant

This is my first real map and I made this map while I was learning Ultimate Doom Builder.  The map was tested with GZDoom v4.11.3.

 

It is not compatible with the source port DSDA and also not compatible with the popular mod Brutal Doom v22.  This map takes roughly 5 - 10 min to complete, I hope you enjoy it!  

 

  • Format - UDMF

  • Jumping - Allowed
  • Crouching - Allowed

FINAL

  • Made adjustments to difficulty item spawns and monster spawns.
  • Updated README.txt

 

v1.5

  • The lever to open the exit door now comes out of the floor instead of the ceiling.
  • Changed Intermission, Title and Credit pics to 4:3 aspect ratio to reduce the file size.

 

v1.4

  • Converted the in game music from .mp3 to .ogg format to reduce the file size.

 

v1.3 

  • Implemented proper difficulty spawns for monsters.
  • Changed intermission pic and reduced resolution to reduce the file size.
  • Removed unused textures.
  • Updated README.txt and added a little story for the map.

 

v1.2

  • Removed the door that shuts near the teleporter in the switch teleport closet room so the player go back and explore.

 

v1.1

  • Removed Door that shuts and blocks access to a certain part of the level when player takes the Red Key Card.
  • The teleporter in the Portal room is now reusable.
  • Removed the Secret Special Effect from the Yellow Key Card room.

Decent map! Good choice of synthwave music. Gameplay flowed mostly well, and there were some cool setpieces like the one-way portal room, and the huge ambush that made you race to the Rocket Launcher.

 

There were some things I think can be improved, blocking previous areas off so if you missed anything you can't go back is never a good idea.

 

The yellow key being in a secret is an odd design choice.

 

And I found some issues below;

You can't get this secret without crouching. It was never specified if crouch was allowed or not.

This door was blocked off by an invisible wall when I came back later.

The teleporter in the portal room only works once. So if you go back there later, you will get stuck.

Thanks for playing!  I was worried for awhile that no one was going to try it lol.

The Invisible wall was from a missing texture for a door that closes shut when you enter the red key room.  I removed the door completely so if the player wants to go back and explore they can.

 

You can now reuse the teleporter in the portal room.  I forgot to enable the "Repeatable Action".  

 

I removed the secret special from the Yellow Key Room.

 

Crouching is allowed.

Played this in LZDoom and everything worked just fine. Not too shabby for a "learning experience." I can see some really interesting and fun maps in your future if you keep at it. Looking forward to what comes next. 😀
