Is couch co-op with two controllers possible in Doom?

Was considering showing my cousin Doom 1 and maybe Doom 2 if he's interested enough and I wanted to see if it was possible to get it running with controllers, since he's mainly a console gamer. Is that possible?

If there is a idea, there is a doom mod, so yeah probably a mod or smth for it already, and coding it wouldn’t be that hard.
