vyruss Posted March 15, 2024 I sadly don't play games much anymore, but I do make projects out of them :) 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

It's not that hard, you just have to find words that have matching letters. I learned that from Fallout 4. 7 Quote Share this post Link to post
bioshockfan90 Posted March 15, 2024 Well, this was an interesting read since I last checked in on it. Regarding the issue at hand it's entirely on Yuzu here, not just due to making an emulator for a console that's still... y'know... out (technically Citra as well but I'm a bit more on the fence about that one), but also due to the donations and Patreon and everything else that profits off illegal shit. I said this to my friend that was throwing a fit about it on Discord the day it happened that they shouldn't have been asking for donations - was Yuzu closed source? I know one of the big 2 is open, 1 isn't but I'm blanking on which one. Anyway, all that aside it's unfortunate but I mean... play stupid games win stupid prizes, it's like expecting a Xbox One emulator or PS4 emulator to be done... actually, that's probably not even the right analogy - you might want to move up a console generation. Y'know, those are a lot harder to emulate though because reasons I won't get into but you get the idea. I disagree with some posts here, like the eternal debate of downloading ROMs of games you literally can't buy anymore, I guess at the end of the day it varies according to your country's laws, the idea that "well if I am to sit here and wait long enough maybe they'll re-release it on a modern console" just simply not going retro or paying an arm and a leg for the cartridges on some of these games, not to mention dying technology and preservation... yeah yeah, everyone just wants to play Super Mario Bros. 3 on their PC, preservation is a nice notion and the end goal but 99% of users aren't in it for that. My point being - this doesn't apply to Switch, none of it. And it won't for a long time. From what I've been reading up on this Yuzu situation has created a Streisand effect and forks of it are still around if you want them, it's not like you need to go on the deep web or some shit to get your hands on a switch emulator. It's piracy, yeah, don't torrent Nintendo games [insert stuff here that would go against ToS] but at the end of the day people are gonna keep this stuff going and it's just a minor bump in the road. Dumb situation from Yuzu devs, not shocked it happened, a bit unfortunate about Citra but it is what it is, like I said at the end of the day this shit is all illegal. I'm just happy I have a switch and this bottom-line doesn't affect me, not like it's a high-priced console, shit you can get a Lite for I think around $150USD or so and play the hits. Obviously $ < free but that's kiiinda how it should be for something that's still on the market? I'm not here to debate pirating ethics. So yeah, have fun without your Yuzu even though it's probably a couple keystrokes away. :P 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

What exactly are you implying? Despite all compatibility charts, I have managed to get exactly one title working in Vita3k. Luckily, it's TxK. You don't need anything else, TBH. 17 hours ago, MS-06FZ Zaku II Kai said: Yeah, have any of you moffos tried to mess around in Mednafen or ;shuders; Mame? Most multicore emulators like BizHawk have good-quality ports of the relevant Mednafen cores with the innovative addition of A Sane UI. MAME isn't hugely difficult to handle nowadays, especially when pared with a good frontend. 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
Devalaous Posted March 20, 2024 Just found an archive of Citra's last version, which still has all my user settings intact when run, so im good for now; I do worry about how futureproof it is to use though, I doubt the saves for my games will be easy to transfer to its eventual successor. Still, its good to have access to my 3DS library again. Brother has my old 3DS and its near-death, so I backed up everything for a PC future, then typically the one time I forget to reinstall after a system refresh, the program vanishes off the net. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
DiceByte Posted March 27, 2024 (edited) You don’t need to stop people from pirating a game you don’t profit from anymore. It’s simple, Nintendo. Edited March 27, 2024 by DiceByte 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

This isn't about games they "don’t profit from anymore", it's about games they still actively sell, with the tearing point being a game that technically hadn't came out yet. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
