ITYTD exists. And it is always an option.

I used to play on Hurt Me Plenty when playing something for the first time.
I still do when it's a WAD I think I'll be playing more than once.
Different difficulties can add a lot of replay value for being so different in many cases.
Sigil II is a great example of this. The Cyberdemons in every level(+other changes) on Ultra Violence made it feel like a whole another experience after playing it on Hurt Me Plenty first.

 

But for few years now I've mostly used a mod called "Custom Doom".
Usually when I play something for the first time I set player "Damage taken" to 75% and play on Ultra Violence.

Then if it feels too easy or hard I can adjust it at any point.
I recommend this a lot if you want to enjoy having all the monsters and stuff of UV difficulty, but not have it be too rough.
In my opinion maps are usually more fun when you have all the monsters of UV and above.

 

These were just my examples. Same applies to lower difficulties as well of course.

If more monsters = more content, then why is no one playing with coop monsters enabled? That is the ultimate experience for almost every wad.

I use a special skill that spawns things from every skill level, including multiplayer, to ensure I'm getting the complete Doom experience.*

Alas, I don't know of a way to spawn class-specific monsters (i.e. Hexen) or deathmatch-only monsters (are there any maps with those?) using MAPINFO...

I think you can do it with DECORATE by making new player classes that have the property 'Player.SpawnClass Any', and then enabling them in PlayerClasses in MAPINFO.

Please pay attention to what is actually being shared.  If I cared about branding I would have merchandise and market myself as the best player to ever live. 

 

1.  The topic is the relevance of lower difficulties for people who are not Decino and ZeroMaster which I 100% agree with (Industrial Zone all secrets UV Max still struggling to complete it). 

 

2.  The video I posted shows that my MO is not beating something on Ultra Violence but showing people everything about each level.  Where to get weapons, where to find all secrets.  What should be looked for at every stage of the level so that people who are not DooM Gods (which I am far from despite playing since 94) can learn from and enhance their own gameplay. 

 

3.  I aim to teach (College Tutor for many years irl) not to dominate my friend. 

 

     This is why I do my best to spread the word because 55 subscribers is not helping many people and I hate to see people unable to enjoy the game because of difficulty (seriously Industrial Zone all Secrets UV Max can go to heck, darn Pain Elemental that won't follow me to the step ARGGGGH!) LOL.

I started playing Doom on ITYTD back when I was an early teen and this was my gateway into Doom. Also let's be fair, I'm not sure that Coincident would be attempting UV-MAX runs of Okuplok if ITYTD wasn't there to let him try the level in a slightly easier form first thanks to the skill level modifiers.

The other poster is right to be mad at you because your post (and video) does not contribute anything to the thread. Unless your UV-Max run of E1M2 somehow has you talking about the ITYTD difficulty and its merits the whole time, you're just spamming your content for the sake of doing so.

This is something I love about UDMF format, since you can just create entirely new difficulty levels and enable everything at once.

You forgot FastMonsters (mo projectiles = mo content)
And NoInfighting so that the monsters don't steal your valuable content.
