Who are the people in this picture?

Good. Some figures are obvious. Others I'm not sure about. But I certainly have no idea who the guy in the unusual clothes in the middle is. Does anyone have any guesses?
Feel free to answer the obvious too.

Do you have any idea why he's in this picture?
I thought it was Don Ivan Punchatz, the artist who did the poster designs, etc.

I thought your uncle was the top guy in the middle. You look a bit alike. Same hair style, you know.

it makes a lot more sense that the guy with the goatee is Don Ivan Punchatz than Richard Garriott, though I do agree they look similar.

I'm still not sure about it though, I can't find any pictures of Punchatz without glasses or grey hair, even old ones. And if that's Abrash in the top right then it's a bit old for Punchatz to be with them.

 

edit: It looks kind of like Dave D Taylor in this recent photo of him. Any id-era pictures I can find of him have him clean-shaven but maybe?

I think it's so cool that the person who made the monster models for Doom 64 is the son of Don Ivan Punchatz.

I think renfair guy has to be DDT then, since no one else in the photo is and he was definitely involved in Quake.

That has to be Mike Abrash, here's a fairly recent picture of him:

 

 

It looks like Tim just isn't there. Maybe Romero didn't count him as part of the team in that description since so many people didn't like him by that point :p
