Sector Trees & Mid Texture-Based Trees in Doom

I tried making a forest using a ton of simple sectors for my mapset Battle for Toad Hall 20XX, but it more or less still looked pretty bland looking. It also doesn't help that the shadows will not look good in anything but the Doom Legacy sector lighting mode.

One of my own from MAP15 of Doomworld Dating Simulator that I made with Dististik. Quite proud of it, considering it was my first time ever making one.

WOW, the UDMF slopes are really used in full force here, looks like something out an N64 platformer, sick stuff!

Looks good to me! Two of the best things about having heavy treetop cover in a map like this is creating a gloomy atmosphere, and an opportunity to have varying sector lighting for satisfying environments, both of which you've pulled off well here.

Holy shit going down's looks UNREAL, I forgot about this one, but wow. Cyriak's control over sectors is genuinely unbelievable. Ty for the great pics!

This is fantastic, let alone for a first-time! Slightly biased, as this is my personal favorite type of sector tree (really big and wide roots with a slightly narrow trunk, and a huge bulbous hunk of leaves) but still, excellent work. OTEX leaves being peak textures as per usual.

Edit - A couple more I remembered:

 

Hexen: Veil of Darkness uses sector trees/tree-textured walls as the map layout in its forest map, as well as tree decorations and Hexen's destructible trees.

Lost Civilization MAP07 also does the "corridors of tree textures" thing.
