Honestly i don't really care about him. Even with the misinformation and clickbaity titles, i don't hate him and all of his lineage like other people tend to show.

He has some of my respect for taking the video as what it is, just a satire of his videos and not a personal attack

I agree. In an era where outrage is now treated as an alternative currency to popularity/infamy, appreciating this aspect alone of Midnight, regardless of his overall content quality, is much more necessary than ever.

I don't recall anyone ever actually saying they hate Midnight - just that his content sucks and that he acts wilfully ignorant and spreads ridiculous misinformation, even stooping low enough to use the Columbine massacre and bullshit about Eric Harris to boost views for his piece of shit Youtube channel.

What bs did he spread about Harris?

Here's an example where he takes a cringeworthy creepypasta recreation of Columbine and acts like he really thinks it's the real deal, even though anyone with any knowledge of Doom would be able to tell that it's bullshit without even looking at the video. At one point in the wad, the famous "swallow this" soundbite from Evil Dead is used, and he actually says "this might really be Eric's voice"! He claims to approach the subject with respect, then immediately starts begging you to use his referral link and smash that fucking like button, while doing the whole "this is very dangerous for my Youtube channel I could totally get banned" act. The only way to give him the benefit of the doubt is to assume that he's just uneducated and naive in regards to the content he chooses to discuss, as well as being a little immature for a guy who's almost 30. But I'd have to be stupid and naive myself in order to believe that. Does he seem like a nice guy? Honestly, yeah, he does. But I have no reason to compliment anything involving his content, because he's a phoney sellout catering to kids that are too ignorant to doubt anything he says, and he knows that lying about a real-life tragedy intensifies the creepypasta effect that they get off on, and therefore brings him more precious attention and clicks. Then you have the fact that these videos draw in Harris/Klebold sympathizers, as seen in many of the comments. That's not his fault, but he enables it, again, for attention.

Yeah, ok. Nevermind what I said. I had only seen some of his tamer videos, like the labrynth that you can't win, The Thing You Can't Defeat, or Lilith.PK3. I understand why people would hate him now.

This guy really thought a shitty compilation of edgy edits made for GZDoom was an actual WAD from the 90's. How? HOW? I'm genuinely so fucking confused as to what kind of barbaric nonsense went through his head - "ah yes, player classes, I remember those in 1993 Doom, and the ROTT gibs.. of course.."

I really don't think there is any reason for anyone to hate the guy (unless there's something I'm not aware of). The worst I can accuse him of is playing dumb and spreading misinformation about a video game in order to make some money (no idea how much) from his Youtube channel. It's hardly a crime against humanity, plus you can tell by listening to the guy and from the way he talks to people in general, that he's likely a humble, mellow person. That's what makes it frustrating - usually people who do stuff like this sound like arrogant douchebags. I think Midnight has everything he needs to have a successful channel without relying on blatant misinformation.

I've probably been a little too harsh about him sometimes in all honesty. But yeah, I don't even hate his channel, let alone the man himself. The videos can be stupid and incorrect in many ways, but he's not out to hurt anyone, he doesn't talk shit about people, just makes dumb videos full of misleading or falsified "facts" when he could do just as well without all that stuff. I'd like to see him improve his content, there's no reason why I wouldn't.

Solid take to be honest.

He ain't like a prick or a bad dude or anything like that, just his videos are kinda high key ass, from little I've watched he seems to deliver it with no enthusiasm, is as cookie cutter YouTube lame as humanly possible (Probably has a Raid sponsorship) and is sort of poorly informed and researched.

Big whoop, guy's just still a fuckin regular ass dude bro, seems chill as fuck, just wish he made better shit.

Also how many times we gotta bring bro up, we get it his vids ain't great.

I watched one of his videos for the first time the other day and I thought it was hilarious in a laughing at him not with him way. It almost reaches the level of self parody with how over the top it is. There's no point in getting mad at garbage like this,it's just the normal "content mill" sort of slop people want nowadays.

as much as i like to shit on him and make it out like i want his head on a spike, even i can agree with this lol. he seems like a normal guy who, while definitely doing a shitty thing, is kinda just trying to make a living the easiest way he can. if that means stooping to the level of a tabloid, then so be it.

that being said, as long as he keeps pushing out awful, sensationalist content, i'm gonna continue to berate him for fun when the topic comes up for the millionth time :p

He's a grifter. It's just that his grift is selling misinformation about a 30 year old video game, not spreading hate about women and minorities.

Equally bad because he's making shit up that's tied to one of the most tragic massacres of the 1990s. I hope the 13 victims who shouldn't have passed that day haunt him beyond the grave.

Yeah, I didn't mean to imply that his grift is morally "better" than what the likes of, say, Andrew Tate -- whatever they spout, it's all just grift and getting gullible people to give them money.

As a person that speaks Spanish, I cringe so hard when someone that speaks the language naturally, speaks in English and tries so hard to fit inside Spanish words like that. I can't take a single instance of it.

It mainly pisses me off because of how much attention he gets. midnight's videos are clickbaity and most are total bullshit yet he somehow gets 300k subscribers. Meanwhile people like Beefgee, EdwardoAndFriends, MtPain27, brainfreezzzz etc who make actually really fucking goated content are still mostly underground. besides within the community of course.

I guess its because his content is very approchable for kids & people who don't fw doom, which would be fine if his shit wasn't so fucking cringe...

I've been curious about how much he actually makes from his channel. I would tell nerdy lies about an old game too if I could make decent money from it.

I will say that the Columbine shit is distasteful though, he needs to draw the line at that point. He's still not doing anything to hurt anyone and the misinformation about Eric and all that really changes nothing in the end, but when you start involving real-life tragedies like that the needle starts to move towards "scummy" and makes him look desperate. Columbine videos can be especially shitty because they always draw in teenagers who sympathize with Eric and Dylan.

If Mid starting making good videos, I bet a lot of people here would tune in just to support the fact that he's going legit.

See, comments like this always have an insult buried in them, an unspoken, but unsubtle assumption that the people being addressed lack integrity and would, after disregarding or even disliking Midnight, would suddenly flock to him if he started making content they liked. I can tell you personally that I don't watch his stuff and if he suddenly became the best DoomTube creator on the site -- which, let's be real, is about as likely as the sun rising in the west -- I still wouldn't watch, because at the end of the day grifters don't change.

I would have no problem supporting him if he changed for the better, because in general that's what I feel is the right thing to do. In terms of people "flocking to him", I don't see why people wouldn't watch his videos if he made content that people like. That's generally what people do, as far as I can tell. I don't understand the point of being so cynical and negative about a Doomtuber, and I don't understand your implication that I'm insulting people or saying that they lack integrity because they might change their mind about a Doomtuber if he started making better content. I said something simplistic and positive, and it looks like you dug so deep into it that you found some kind of buried insult that I didn't put there. I'm not trying to be rude to you, but I don't get it.

But I do share your cynicism when it comes to him actually changing anything, we all know that's extremely unlikely. That's why I would support him if he did change and became a positive example.

I will never understand why people insist on calling everything "content" nowadays. They're YouTube videos and he's a YouTuber. "Content" is needlessly vague and only serves to obfuscate what the person is actually making. People used to mock DSP for calling his videos "content" but now everyone does it. It's like people like him said it so much that everyone else adopted the term.

Yeah, I never really thought about it since I don't get into Youtubers that much (all I know about DSP is that I don't want to know about DSP) but the term "content creator" always irritated me, so I can see where you're coming from. It's not as bad as "influencer" though, which reeks of "look how important I am" bullshittery.

I actually agree with you, thanks for pointing that out so I can stop using that word. You're right, it only obfuscates the actual "content" of the "social media influencers".

Just to be clear, I'm not criticizing you in particular, it's been a pet peeve of mine for years. "Influencer" is indeed worse.
