I think you'll need coolsoft midi mapper for that. or use something like this: https://codecpack.co/download/Midi-Player.html 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

I just did it to be extra safe. But that driver did handle volume better. If I recall, the midi mapper doesn't specifically interfere with the driver itself... pantheon Posted May 1, 2024 (edited) For anyone with volume issues, try the build linked in this post. It's still louder than 0.3.0 official for me, maybe because the 32 bit output PR hasn't been merged yet. To handle the SC-55mkII lacking capital tone fallback and the need for particular reset behavior in some cases, this epic screenshot shows the setup that works for me. It requires loopMIDI and Falcosoft Midi Player. The "Midi Player Device Settings" window is accessed via the cog icon in FSMP, and the "Instruments" fly-out menu and patch definitions on the right are how capital tone fallback is enabled. "loopMIDI Port 1" shown here as the default MIDI device is selected in games if necessary. It's all still a bit confusing for me, but Blood for instance no longer needs a manual GM initialization, so it's worth the trouble. Kappa971 Posted May 1, 2024 There is an unofficial patch for Blood for Roland hardware: https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=36501&p=359683&hilit=blood+midi#p359683 You must apply the patch with Lunar IPS to "sounds.rff" file. Now Blood will work with GS Reset. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Tycitron Posted May 2, 2024 (edited) Nevermind i figured out how to install it and get it to work but there are so many issues going on. Lots of cutoff and low pitch instruments going on. it worked well the first time i launched it now its like eternally broken. Also it seems to lack some instruments? like some midis i listened to some instruments that would normally play dont play. Edited May 2, 2024 by Tycitron 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
ceski Posted May 2, 2024 Maybe you can share some details like the source port you're using or the wad you're playing. Nuked SC-55 currently has similar limitations as the original hardware. Without getting into technical details, you need a source port that can deal with some of those limitations, but also the midis must be written with care (many aren't). Development seems pretty active, so this could change in the future. You may want to stick with soundfonts for now. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
NightFright Posted May 2, 2024 For me, it can hardly get any easier than using the S-YXG50 in combination with Falcosoft's VST MIDI Driver. Works automatically, fire-and-forget one-time setup. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

This is a really neat project but I wonder if they will find some way to increase the max polyphony of the device. The SC55 mk2 can only handle up to 28 voices at a time and I could see this being a deal breaker for some people. I know it was for me, so I bought a SC-8820 and use SC-55 sound maps because this device allows up to 64 voices, which typically is enough for about anything. Still interesting to see this is a thing happening considering how much love the SC-55 gets (and how expensive they tend to be if you want one in the flesh). 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

At the moment, you can run multiple copies of Nuked and link them together with FSMP for increased polyphony as described in this post (make sure your WinMM VSTi is up to date, mine was old). There's a multi-instance feature for Nuked in progress that would streamline things but I haven't tried that yet. Edited May 3, 2024 by pantheon 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

With a Mk1 1.21 rom that can be source now Nuked SC55 alone should be enough for correct Midi playback, besides loopMIDI. It's lighter on the CPU too, 60% of MkII. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
