Homer_hardware Posted April 6, 2024 I am/Im currently building a doom map on Ultimate Doom Builder and I am trying to change a sector's brightness but it also changes the brightness of another sector and apparently they both have the same sector numbers. Do you guys know how to change the sector number????? 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Kan3 Posted April 6, 2024 It's the sector tag. When you right-click a sector, at the bottom of the window that opens up, you'll find the Identification tab, there you can give your sector any tag you want (must be an integer) 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
reefer Posted April 6, 2024 (edited) Sounds to me like you might have accidentally merged the two sectors. when you merge 2 or more sectors together, their properties will be the same and they'll have the same Sector #. This can be helpful if you want two sectors to be the same but disconnected from each other (look into like dummy sectors and stuff for more info). I don't use ultimate doom builder, but some editors have hot keys for you to disconnect sectors that were previously merged; though I'm not sure how you'd go about it using doom builder. Sector tags are unrelated. They are very important though when mapping. Say if you want to have a switch that lowers a floor, you would give the switch and the floor the same tag so the switch would know which sector to lower. My bad if I'm misunderstanding, but thats just my 2 cents... Edited April 6, 2024 by reefer 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

There's a fix for this, there's a button in UDB called "Make Sector," which allows you to separate sectors which have been joined together. I think using that will fix your issue. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
