So any cricket fans here ?

Recommended Posts

I'm talking about the cricket sport, I know a lot of British folk around here and they probably know about cricket I don't know, i surely know about it

I enjoy watching test and odi cricket. T20is are good too but they are too short and just not my cup of tea

I love watching the Sheffield shield or Any other First-Class Tournaments when there isn't any bilateral series or tournament going on.

All the British, indian, kiwi or Aussie folk

Cricket disscusion thread ??

Ah almost forgot about the south Africans, one of the best teams in the sport, Abraham Benjamin De Villiers (abd Villiers), David miller, Faf du plessis etc you name it, it's sad that even having all 3 of these cricketers at the team at one point,

they never won a world cup and only thing they have won was a champions trophy in 99

I can't say I'm a fan of crickets, the noise they make is kind of weird and I find insects to be really gross. I'd be even less enthused towards a sport revolving around them,

It's not a sport revolving them tho

It's a sport with consists of a bat and ball, batsman hit the ball and score "runs" while protecting the "stumps", if the bowler hits the stumps, it's a out or wicket, kinda like baseball but runs come flowing in

I am not really a fan of cricket (or sports in general) but a lot of people around me, like my cousins and classmates absolutely eat it up. The buzz is even higher recently due to IPL.

Side note: Also, is it just me who finds the popularity of cricket in India quite strange considering that it is not even a national sport.

I would watch it if it was full contact. That would be much, much funnier. As it is I find it only marginally less boring than golf and I would sooner try to teach developing PHP and MySQL web based apps to a particularly stupid tree stump than watch golf. That said, I do see the occasional highlight on the news of some epic catch or something like that in Cricket and think "yeah OK that is pretty awesome". So it has it's moments even for the attention deficit like myself. They are just too few and far between.

INCOMING DERAILMENT

I guess the trigger of sports I find boring just made me remember this. There was (is?) an Australian comedian called the 12th Man, who would do these comedy albums impersonating Australian sports personalities in various wacky situations. I remember one piece in particular that made me laugh thinking about it again all these years later because I related to it so much. I am no doubt remembering it somewhat incorrectly and probably spelling the names wrong but it was some guy commentating car racing. One guy introduced the bit as "And the best pile up of the month goes too..."

"And Amerreto has spun out! Nigel Mansel tries to get around him but can't! And thank GOD we're finally seeing some action here at last! These FUCKING cars have just been going round and round it's been SO FUCKING BORING!"

Just thought I would share that because... eh... who the hell knows. Back to your regularly scheduled post about cricket.

All I know is the term "Sticky Wicket" and don't even know what that means.

I agree with you, but US nation debt is one of kind, it never seem to stop, infact if stacked in pennies, it would have reached Pluto, honestly

It's kind of concerning that it is increasing day by day, I'm not economic expert and the only economy I have handled was the one in Hearts Of Iron 4, It's kind of sad to see a country like the US having so much poor people, infact if you walk into the streets of newyork, it wouldn't take long to spot a poor person,

Anyways, banger reply

Yep, but the current stage of csk is not looking good, they should put dhoni up the lineup so that he can build up innings and then hit sixes

I'm Indonesian, but ever since late 2022, I've found myself enjoying some cricket stuff (alongside rugby, but that's neither here nor there), even although not unlike Murdoch, I'm more of a fan of highlight clips when it comes to sports than watching them entirely (I still occasionally watch Indonesia national soccer/football team matches whenever possible).

As a person of (partial) mixed South Asian ancestry, I ultimately lean more towards the Pakistan national team for my support (my great grandfather of my mom's side came from there before settling in Java), but I also admire other national teams (West Indies, which, for those not into cricket, consists of a bunch of Caribbean countries, and South Africa, just to name a few). Also, I find it surprising that we have a few more Indian Doomers out there than some time ago. After all, it's not like there are many Indonesian Doomers as well. :)

The cricket sport? Oh, I'm a huge fan of that. The other day, I was watching the cricket sport, and there was this super gnarly hit after the guy... threw...uh, after he dunked the ball.

In a nutshell, throw ball, man hit ball and run to other side, score 1 run, if ball cross into boundary then 4 runs, if ball fly into stands without making contact them six runs

Indonesia has a cricket team, it's very unpopular I've heard, icc is trying to grow the sport in other non cricket playing nations. Like this year's t20i world cup which will be happening in the United states

as an American who's moved to NZ, I still have very little understanding of the game but I've gotten to watch a few games IRL and it's fun to watch while downing some beers.

Pretty sure he's joking around. That's what he usually does on Doomworld (doesn't mean he lacks any serious moments tho).

Yeah, and ours was only established as late as 2000, while being declared an official ICC member the next year. Most of the players are Balinese, who probably have a close relationship with the Ozzies (Balinese AFAIK don't really relate that closely with Indians, apart from the fact that they're a Hindu-majority ethnicity). In fact, Indonesia's only cricket ground is located in Bali. Having been born and raised there, I can tell that cricket is still just as niche there as it is in the entire country.

The Australian cricket board should fund the Indonesian cricket board to help it grow

It's very fun, special limited overs like odis and t20is, test matches are long and not many people like them but still they are very good to watch specially from home

I'm what could be politely described as "a (kiwi) raging cricket nut" c:
Very much looking forward to the T20 world cup, and nothing tops cricket catches

(I'm also the one who's been inflicting cricket on @Major Arlene's poor American mind)

Given the rampant corruption culture here, I'd rather not. Or maybe have the ICC go more direct with us. Still, that won't guarantee everyone becoming a cricket fan in God knows how long. ;)
