How to hide the middle texture?

kwhobbs

Question

Hello, for some reason I cannot get rid of this middle texture. It looks like it would be the upper, but it is actually the middle texture (I don't know why this is the case). I tried setting it with a high offset that puts it into the ceiling, but when I actually play test the map it goes back to how it was.

Does anyone have any suggestions for how to get rid of this?

Here is what is looked like before I changed the offset:

Then after I changed the middle offset to 90 it appears fixed:

However, when I play test it, it appears the same as it looks in the first picture.

That's certainly a weird quirk with UDB.

If you want to remove a texture or flat rather than replace it, you'll have to fill the name field with a single endash rather than leaving it blank like you'd expect to work

I wouldn't necessarily call it a UDB quirk, it's just how empty texture fields have always been specified in Doom, so you'll find this behavior in most map editors over the decades.

Set it to "-", like the upper texture currently is.

Thank you. I had thought I tried that but it seems I didn't. That worked!

Btw, in the linedef menu, you can right click a texture to erase it.

You can use it as a shortcut instead of typing '-' every time.
