Making maps is so exciting but I must be in a very specific mood to accomplish something so it will be playing wads for me.

Breaking oldschool IWAD maps - my focus these days is E2M4.

I love to play PWADs (especially ancient ones from the 90s - early 00-s) and mapping when I have inspiration.

Christ, I love this damn game, it's a special one...

 

(by the way, I guess I'm gonna love mapping even more with UDMF and ACS scripts, recently I started learning this stuff and it's freaking amazing)

Overall, I prefer playing WADs thant anything, but I realize that lately I've been spending more time watching Doom videos than actually playing the game.

 

I also like to make maps for fun from time to time, but I'm bad at it and don't really have the motivation to improve myself for the moment.

Playing wads. There's nothing inherent in the mapping process that'll make me devote much time to it and my creativity is workmanlike enough, it's always a trick to find the motivation at times. It doesn't help that I don't really like drawing lines and building sectors too much, no matter what the result could be.

Every time i got a game as a kid you can bet your ass I was fucking around in the bundled editing tools. I spent way more time in the map editor for warcraft 2, starcraft, and warcraft 3 than i did playing the base game lol. I like making wads, my main attachment to gaming is the creative side of it.

Those that answered "Making Wads (More General)" what specifically are you referring to? Are there psychopaths out there writing lumps for fun?

yeah, it also is stuff like wads that change sounds textures etc, basicly all types of wads. im guessing that is what they mean

in doom 2016 I like to sometime see all of the gruesome death animations from doomguy. they can be very brutal and frightening
