This guy got Doom running on a Cisco C195 Cisco Email Security Appliance device. This is impressive. What next? A Cisco switch or router? That would be quite a hack indeed.

Impressive, but also not-so-impressive because behind it all is just an Intel Xeon. a x86 processor. So the impressive part is in the propetiariy back-end.

On a tangentially related note, this makes me wonder if one could compile a functional copy of FreeDOOM for OpenWRT and embed it as a browser based port to the management console.

 

I think it's possible. But I am likely vastly underestimating the obstacles involved. And like so many gimmicky DOOM porting attempts, probably not worth the effort.
