slowfade Posted April 22 As in, strolling and other speedrunning... I've been grinding a map (on strolling speed) where every tic counts. It's driving me a bit insane. Is there something I should know about pressing the exit switch? I often just walk through the furthest point it can be activated and thus lose a frame or two until the switch takes effect. Is it just my bad key-smashing or is there something I'm doing wrong? Can the angle or speed affect it? 4 Quote Share this post Link to post
4shockblast Posted April 25 I think it's just timing. Speed doesn't affect it, but angle does (you want to face more direct to the switch for the best chance). When I reach close to the switch, I always try to swing a bit towards it to get the earliest possible activation. Are you spamming the use button or just trying to time it? I recommend the latter, if you are doing the former. The more you practice getting the exact timing down, without spamming, the more accurate you will be over time. 7 Quote Share this post Link to post
Decay Posted April 25 Yea if you're spamming the use button that is super unhelpful tbh. Just gotta time it with thoughts and prayers 5 Quote Share this post Link to post
slowfade Posted April 25 Thanks guys. I'm trying to hit the use button as many times as possible instead of timing it right. I'll try learning that. It seems I also have the angle not optimal because I have to let go of the mouse to free my other hand to smash the key (I figured my other hand is not fast enough to smash the use key if I'm also using it to move forward). But if I learn to time right, that frees the other hand for improving the angle. Let's see how it goes. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

slowfade Posted April 28 Tried several configurations but no luck! Not enough dexterity in the fingers. I couldn't press one key (move forward) while repeatedly pressing another, even if managed to reach for them, the hand wouldn't co-operate. I even tried controlling move forward with a mouse button but it was a total disaster. Fortunately this new precision-based approach is working well; I haven't done many runs yet but I could already match my best time with the new technique. Hoping to save a frame one day soon. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
