Ardebitis Posted April 26 (edited) Hello! This is my first post on Doomworld. I've spent the past week teaching myself how to make maps, with no outside assistance and very few tutorials, and this is what I have to show for it. Download: Google Drive Features and Info: 12 bite-sized music-themed maps as of 2024-04-26 (10 Normal, 2 Secret) UDMF format, intended for GZDoom (Zandronum also works, but only with hardware rendering) Jumping required, Crouching not required, Freelook recommended, but optional Supports difficulties from ITYTD to UV, should be beatable by even the most casual players on at least one of those Changelog: Spoiler alpha3.1h2: Restored ability to move after playing MAPS2. For real this time. alpha3.1h: Fixed killfloors in MAP05. alpha3.1: Changed the ending of MAP10. Advanced the plot. alpha3h: Fixed difficulty flags for red keycard on MAP09. Restored ability to move after playing MAPS2. alpha3: Added MAP10. Renamed MAPS1 to a more befitting name, with new music to match. Reduced the "Moving..." time on MAPS2, adjusting par time to match. alpha2.2h: Fixed all monsters inexplicably dying on MAP05 Normal Previews: Spoiler Secret Previews: Spoiler Edited June 12 by Ardebitis 7 Quote Share this post Link to post

kwc Posted April 26 (edited) Cool wad, @Ardebitis! Very creative and silly, I enjoyed playing through it. Once in a Lifetime was the standout map for me, clever and funny! Spoiler S2: For user experience, maybe reducing the number of ticks for the delay for when the player is "Moving...", found that level quite charming to play but moving about felt labored in a way that I felt took away from it a bit (I understand it's a gag though) I do think that this is a cool concept, the Dungeon Crawler style adventure game gag, along with a lot of the other concepts and gags! I'd love to see you flesh these out further or do more! :O) Edited April 26 by kwc 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Ardebitis Posted April 26 Just released version alpha3, which includes some tweaks, as well as MAP10, "Don't Stop Me Now"! 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
LadyMistDragon Posted April 26 This wad had some great ideas! First map already demonstrates strong skill with combat. And Once in a Lifetime is a spot fucking-on experience. I can't stop laughing at some of these (like how "Blue's" music shift from 'ladadadee...." to whatever the actual song is. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

I'm kind of disappointed you skipped Virtual Insanity. It's regarded by the people I've tested it with as one of the better maps! 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Ardebitis Posted April 27 I've been working on bugfixes today. I also added an end-of-level cutscene to MAP10, advancing the plot a bit. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Ardebitis Posted June 12 Just applied a fix, mainly to let people know I'm not dead yet. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
