Thanks for the playing, nice demo!

Last 3 monsters can not be killed, they manage the crematorium in which the player burns at the end of the level :D

As with previous Endoom Mapping contest entries, this was unsurprisingly a phenomenal level!

Very well done!

Great level! I managed to UV-Max on my first demo attempt, and cleared it in 18:37. Visuals were excellent and I liked the exploration, I never got lost or backtracked for very long before figuring out where I needed to progress. Difficulty was more on the easier side, but the gameplay was fun enough for it to not be such an issue. Lighting, texturing, and level design were awesome overall, and I really couldn't find anything wrong with this level. Would recommend this WAD to everyone!

Spoiler

I somehow tanked the archvile in the rocket launcher area and survived with 1% HP remaining, that fight was awesome!

Really good wad, i had fun playing it, it reminded me of alien vendetta

Same. The island setting with the orange sky in the background gives me Beast Island vibes. I also just realized this is the third Endoom 2024 mapping contest WAD that I really enjoyed playing, such an well done project overall!

DEMO NOTES:
Player: Napeyear
Skill: 4 (Ultra-Violence)
Exe: dsda-doom (Boom)
Time: 18:37

Comments: Really fun island-temple level that makes great use of exploration, space, and has some interesting areas along with great combat. Textures and detailing was perfect, I never saw any issues with misalignment or any odd texture choices that clash against the overall aesthetic. I liked the ending too, where the player gets roasted by an archvile and some imps. Even if the player cannot (technically) get 100% kills on the stats screen, I like when WADs do this sort of thing because its always a surprise for the player to 'die' at the end rather than simply warping out of the level to the stats screen.

Some of the fights were really well done, and I liked the rocket launcher area with the mancubus, revs, and hell knights. I managed to escape with 1% health thanks to some nasty archvile placement after grabbing the rocket launcher! Although the level wasn't super hard, it was still really engaging for me to blast through on UV, though I kind of wished there were more difficulty settings, as the current 'UV' could pass for HMP in my opinion. Some of the traps were really well done too, like the lowering floor trap in the hallway leading to the red key area. In my demo you'll see me playing with the switch and lower floor lindef for some reason, this trap amused me quite a bit lol.

Ammo and health was good, though I can't help but feel that the difficulty was held back a little by the over abundance of ammo. I never felt like I needed to be super conservative of my resources, as I had a ton of shells early on and I managed to have plenty of cells and rockets near the end despite playing sloppily and wasting many shots. Also, I think there was too many green armor pickups, but I also found the armor secret in the beginning so I could be a little biased. On the other hand, it is nice to play a level that doesn't try to punish the player as much as possible for not being a marksman, so I don't think is such a bad thing :P

Exploration was great too, and I liked how the level loops back around to the broken bridge leading to the blue key door, this design comes back into play after you grab the BFG and activate the bridge leading to the red key, and it was really hard to get lost in this level, which is a testament to good level design on your part, very few dead ends could be found! Secrets were also great! They weren't too cryptic but not super obvious either, and rewarded the player nicely for their curiosity.

Overall this was an excellent level that I will most likely replay in the future, as I thought it was fun and a good challenge, though not insanely difficulty either. I hope to see more works from you in the future. Though I touched on difficulty in my review, I don't think it was so much of an issue that it detracts from the overall level, but just felt like I could have been pressured a little more in some areas. I give Crematoria a 10/10, as everything was perfectly executed and I was really struggling to find things to criticize in my playthrough.

Austinado, thanks for playing!

I probably need to make SSG more noticeable, since almost all players go straight into the building and suffer for half the level with a regular shotgun.

Very cool map. Love the detailing and atmosphere. Combat is enjoyable with a few spicy moments. My only complaint is that I got lost a couple of times. First time was in the outdoor area where the secret soulsphere is. The lift to progress looks identical to the one you enter from, so wasn't very obvious. I also got very lost after getting the red key because I went up the stairs to the red door. I was wandering around for a while wondering where I was meant to go before I even saw the *other* red door. I found 3/4 secrets, but missed 5 enemies (3 in the exit, not sure where the other 2 were). fda: crem-ryiron.zip

ryiron, thanks for playing and valuable comments!

p.s.

I fixed several issues found by players, and also tried to make level navigation more clear.
