Scottier681 Posted April 30, 2024 Is there a way to use a controller with windows doom 95 on a HP 2020 laptop? 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Edward850 Posted April 30, 2024 (edited) The API Doom95 uses, direct input, still exists in win11, but you need a controller that actually supports what it expects. You very likely do not. For the most part Doom95 is completely pointless to use in the modern day, there is nothing it has that another port doesn't already have itself with vastly more modern support. Grab Chocolate Doom or something. Edited April 30, 2024 by Edward850 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Scottier681 Posted May 1, 2024 And on the subject of chocolate doom, why does it default to either doom 2 or final doom plutonia when i start it? Is there a specific way the wads need to be placed in the choc doom folder? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Edward850 Posted May 1, 2024 By default, it does the vanilla behavior of picking an Iwad by priority. Using the setup programs warp function or the -iwad launch parameter will allow picking a specific one. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Meerschweinmann Posted May 2, 2024 (edited) I am not a controller-player, so i have Not tested it, but when Chocolate DOOM fits your needs you could try Crispy-DOOM. It is based on Chocolate DOOM plus many optional features like a higher resolution. Or If you want it even a bit more advanced you can use International DOOM that sets even more optional features on top of Crispy-DOOM like even higher resolutions and truecolor software rendering. Crispy and International-DOOM are part of the Chocolate DOOM family of ports. When you don't touch an option you get Chocolate DOOM with a resolution of 640x400 in both cases, but you can use 320x200 If you want to.
