Unable to run mods in GzDoom

Hi all,

 

I am currently trying to play Siren and Brutal Doom, yet when I try to run either (both are set to open with GzDoom) I am just met with the standard GzDoom window that only gives me the options to play Doom 1 or 2. I’m running Windows 11 if that’s of any help. 
 

I have both my Doom 1 and 2 WADs in my GzDoom folder as are the Siren and Brutal Doom pk3s. 
 

I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure out why this isn’t working so any advice would be much appreciated!

Pick a game (usually Doom 2 for mods) and it should load the mod within that game. Mods don't appear as separate entries in the startup list unless they're standalone games like Total Chaos. It's a little confusing at first, I know! But you'll get the hang of it.

While I have you guys here, I have one more question. When I downloaded  Project Brutality off GitHub I didn’t see a pk3. Should I just make a Project Brutality folder inside the GzDoom folder to store all of its contents?

You're probably better off just getting it from ModDB which has it already bundled into a pk3. Or you could manually zip it all back up into a PK3 file using SLADE.

Got it. Could ZDL be used if I’m adding mods (updated textures etc) to Brutal Doom? 

 

Or could I make a Brutal Doom folder within GzDoom folder and put the extra mods in there?

Yeah just put all the pk3/wad/zips in there and it'll load it as long as theyre all compatible with another.

 

(example: loading Project Brutality with Alien Vendetta + Widescreen assests + Alien Vendetta MIDI project.)
