Can't get the Doom Tribute Project WAD to work right

Recommended Posts

I'm new to the Doom modding thing and I downloaded the Doom Tribute Project but I'm having some problems with it.

I'm dragging and dropping it into GZDoom and when I play it some of the textures don't load properly. They're either black or a checker pattern. There are also these weird exclamation points that show up randomly across the maps. And finally, there's no audio. The audio was working for a while but now just suddenly stopped working. It works with all the other apps/games on my PC but not for GZ DOOM.

Looks like you didn't load it in with the right IWAD.

You need to use doom2.wad and Gzdoom.

Okay, that solves the texture problem. What about the audio? As I said it worked at first but now there's no sound.

Well that all depends on what sound device you are using.

In order to test, just start with regular Doom 2 and see if you get sound. If not, go into settings and see what it says.

For some reason, the audio just switched on by itself. This is twice this has happened. Once when I was playing OG Doom 2 and this time with the Tribute Project. So if it happens again should I just assume that it is a problem with my PC rather than the game itself?

The for some reason is what you want to know because GZDoom doesn't auto trigger sound like that. Hence why i made the aforementioned suggestions, which seemingly weren't followed.

I think a lot depends on the sound device and what settings are set in GZDoom.
