Nikamir Posted May 6 (edited) Background: I spent a fair amount of time creating maps that would be of interest to more than just me. As in high school and college, due to the lack of friends and socializing, I actively drew in every spare moment and thus improved my skills. The difference is that the drawings were seen only by me, but here I can share my creativity with you, even if my creativity is not perfect. But, sooner or later, everything comes to an end. Being old enough, in my 30s, I reviewed all the volumes of my drawings and burned them the same day as if I were Gogol with vol II of the "Dead Souls". I got a strong sense of sentimentalism when I revisited all my childhood, teenage and adolescent drawings and I realized that they evoke feelings only for me, they are valuable only for me. Then what's the point of keeping them, and for what history, if it can just be thrown in the trash by any passerby, I'd rather do it myself, and with honors. Point: This is probably my last map on the forum. Even though I've only been on the forum for a short while, I've been making maps for the second if not third year. However, I no longer feel passionate about making maps. That's why this map is called "Waste", in short as all the time I spent on map making, as my maps that will also end up in the bucket. It's certainly not a magnum opus, but let it be. It's not a "run and gun" map, it's a map where you need strategy and brain. For everything else there are plenty of other interesting maps than this one. If you don't like this genre (poDOOMaty), you don't have to play the whole map or at all. PAR time: 20-40 min Features: - No wall-humping secrets - Plenty enough secrets - Armor and best guns in secrets only - No crouch - No jump - Freelook optional - Single map - Single player : (no plasma, no BFG, no boss) Screenshot: Format: BOOM. DOOM2. Tested in PrBoom+ and GZDOOM. Made with Slade3 + ZDBSP. Download (306 Kb): https://1drv.ms/u/s!ArJqO35mii2Ok8x7hmopvO8tjRCTWA?e=YzDPgP P.S.1: Maybe I'll get back to making maps someday, but something has to happen for that to happen, but it's not certain. P.S.2: It's been a pleasure reading all your reviews and watching all the walkthroughs. Love you guys! Edited May 28 by Nikamir prosto potomusto 14 Quote Share this post Link to post
Zesiir Posted May 6 Great map, tight as hell but varied environments and lots of interactivity makes it fun to play through. Ammo is scarce, but just scarce enough for you never to run dry, but keep you on edge through most of the map. Which is flawless in execution and flow. Challenge is fair, secrets are useful. And that Berserk pack in the beginning saved my bacon more than I can remember. The final battle was really well thought-out for such small quarters. You really know how to use Arch-Vile to it's benefits. Shame to see you go, but know that I had great fun playing your maps. Cheers :) As always, a tiny issue was found; Spoiler Texture missing after the wall lowers. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

MisterLivers Posted May 7 I played only a fifth of this WAD, mainly because its extremely harsh, extremely ammo starved, not really fun, im not saying the whole thing is bad, the map layout reminds me of some DOOM II maps, not in a bad way, theres barely health and ammo as I said, I would recommend putting a decent amount of health and not using health for secrets, I could work with the ammo starving if it was just Imps, Pinky's and zombiemen, but if its chaingunners and cacodemons, its too harsh. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
MisterLivers Posted May 7 (edited) the combat can be fun also, but when your having to use your fist againts 2 revenants, its not the best, you got to make hard levels work in a way that makes them fair. see ya mate, had fun with destruction facility and some other maps Edited May 7 by MisterLivers 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Bedingungsl.Grundeinkommen Posted May 7 20 hours ago, Nikamir said: Maybe I'll get back to making maps someday I just finished it on UV and I think it was super fucking awesome. Honestly, I'm impressed. But I had to use a few saves and I only found 7 out of 10 secrets. Maybe, if I knew where the last three secrets are, I could beat the map without saving. I really hope you change your mind and continue mapping. This map was anything but a "waste". 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
LadyMistDragon Posted May 8 This took a long time (a little under 40 minutes) but it was worth every second! I just didn't think it was worth wracking my brain to find the remaining 3 secrets. A wonderful send-off in any case though :) Pretty tricky ending too! The map had been quite laid-back up to that point, with the teleport trap behind the yellow door the only hint of something nastier, and asking for a plasma rifle :) 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
