Murdoch Posted May 7 (edited) 6 hours ago, Fireseth said: The newest addition to my arsenal... Ahhh, a man of class and taste. Here's five of my six. - Black strat is actually a 1994 Mexican Strat. Dad played it for a few years in a band then passed it onto me. Since been heavily customised with a wooden scratchplate, new custom pickups and other internals replaced. I prefer the neck on this one to any full-priced strat I have tried. - Super strat, fully custom built for me by a friend in return for a website. Fear I got the better end of that deal. The pickups have the nicest clean tone I have ever heard out of humbuckers. I forget exactly what they are - I want to say Tonerider P90s. Were a great price for the insane quality. - Ibanez acoustic. Beautiful tone, sweet to play. - Random no-name acoustic. Was pretty decent to play and sounded great. A gift from Dad on my 18th birthday. The neck is a bit fucked though and the action is too high. Being kept for when I eventually find time to learn slide properly. It's based on (read: blatantly copied) from a Gibson I have seen in various places over the years but don't know the name of. - Cort acoustic. Was my primary acoustic for a while before I got the Ibanez and then I ended up back with it for reasons I won't bother going into. Needs some attention on the bridge; the peg holes needed some adjustment to grip the pegs, but then I banged one in so tight it broke when I tried to get it out last time I tried to change the strings. Must get back to that. It's solid, not great. Decent value for money for what we paid for it. I also have another red strat copy that I tried to restore but could never get the neck quite right. It's nice to play, and the pickups have a great vintage tone. But unfortunately upon reassembly after repainting the body and staining the neck, there was fret buzz neither Dad nor myself was able to correct. It's on the project list for another revisit someday. But for now it's my "shop guitar" for random noodling at my shop during breaks. Edited May 7 by Murdoch 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Somniac Posted May 7 1991 Fender Japan Jazz Bass Special - nicest Jazz neck I've ever played, perhaps even better than the MIJ Geddy Lee which is also incredible. The body is basswood which I'm not massively keen on, but on the upside it weighs virtually nothing. I want to swap out the electronics at some point. 1986 Aria Pro II RSB Medium - medium scale bass, gamechanger for me, picked this up for pretty cheap given how well built it is. Matsumoko was on another level in the mid-80s. Easy to play and sounds big. 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
taufan99 Posted May 7 Spoiler One of my favorite brutal death metal bands (Kerangkenk). In case you're asking, yes, the guitar is hand-made by the frontsman (vocalist and guitarist, no less a left-handed one) himself. And yes, he makes custom ones like that for sale, although a few years ago he got scammed by one of his "close" friends (I know because I'm friends with him on Facebook). 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Images tend to be huge, and not everyone likes exploring threads with large blank spaces (usually those with a less-than-stellar internet connection), so I usually use a spoiler to put my image(s) inside them. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
